Hi Guys.
Is anyone using the laser module with the Yora 6550 diode laser?
I'm looking for a little assistance.

Re: Thread milling
HI Guys. Here is a test piece I did a few years ago, using recently departed Paul Rowntree's thread cutting gadget, which I assume is very close to the newer Vectric Aspire version. The major diametre is about 2-3/4" and a depth of 1-1/4" with a 3/16" pitch. The material is 1-1/2" ranger premium MDF...

Re: Thread cutting
HI Guys.
I've used Paul's gadget with great results.
I used a boring bar set to do the cutting https://www.busybeetools.com/products/h ... b3334.html

Re: Aluminum Molds
Hi Jim.
The answer is no. I have 2 misters mounted on my machine. I use one for a water soluable coolant, and straight air on the other.
I only use 6061 or better aluminum which makes machining allot easier.

Aluminum Molds
Hi Guys.
It's been awhile since I posted.
I've been doing prototype molds for a filter manufacturer the past couple of years.
Here's a couple of the latest.
Designed and machined using Aspire.

Looking for a contact in Wyoming for a prototype referal
Hi.
I am looking for someone in Wyoming that may be interested in quoting a small run job. (50 pieces)
The part finishes at 22" x 16" x 1" thick.
I've been asked to quote this, but I'd like to see the client work with someone closer to home.
If interested, contact me a john@jmurphycnc.ca

Re: Clear Coat
Hi John. I'm not sure exactly what type of resin it is, but it goes on the blue construction foam(EPS) without an issue. It gets hard enough that you can sand it, and it can be painted. (I haven't tried to colour it prior to application, but I may in the future. Just to clarify, EPS foam is not my n...

Re: Clear Coat
I use EPS foam from time to time. For a clear hardshell coating I use "Surfboard Resin", with good results.
So far I just brush it on, but I plan to try it in my "Critter" sprayer at some point.
I purchase it from Plastic World in Toronto.
Not sure if that's any help with this thread.

Re: Diamond Drag Bit
I have been using the Widget Works vinyl knife and diamond drag tools for years. Both are well made(the diamond drag tool could be a little tighter for my personal preference) and I've had years of trouble free service from both. Yes, they do seem a little pricey, but they are professional grade, an...

Re: Cutting Aircraft Grade Aluminum
I cut a lot of aluminum, but I have a Unist mister attached to my carriage. If you plan on cutting aluminum on a regular basis, it's worth it to invest in a misting system, or build one for yourself.
You don't need allot of lubrication, but it will help in both cutting and surface finish.

Re: ASPIRE 8.5 TO axyz 4008 via DNC question
Hi Liam.
I was just checking to make sure that your settings matched your travel ability.
Try using F84 to set your " z" Zero and "Z" bottom, then set the "Z" top only 5mm or .200" above the material height.
Axyz will override the G-code setting in Z and use the one you set.

Re: ASPIRE 8.5 TO axyz 4008 via DNC question
Try opening "toolpath", then go to "settings", then "Calibration". Don't mess with the "steps/inch" setting, but take a look at the size settings. See if they match your machine size. You can play with these a little, because this is basically your soft stops. Does your machine have proximity sensor...
