Re: Clamping suggestions

I resently changed my clamping system as the old one just was not working for me. I used 1/2 MDF as the base system and purchased several 48" t-slot system. I cut with a 1/2 router bit slots for the t-slots to fit in. I placed 4 of them about 6 inches apart. Only about 24 inches deep on the length o...

Merge 2 models.

I trying to learn to merge to models together and have not master this trick. I have 2 buttons which I want to overlap. But if I use the add/merge they still are two models. So the are that intercepts/overlaps you can see and disorts the button shape. I want one to "win" and be a whole model. Thus t...

Re: PhotoVcarve

I used photovcarve to create lithophanes alot these days. Once I like the image save the project as a PVC file. Then open vcarve desktop and import the PVC file. I can resize it and place a frame or border around it so I can easly mount it in a wood frame which has the LEDs. Have had great sucess wi...

Re: My Apology

One thing I have experienced is some cards/bank don't like the international sales. Since they are
based in the UK I have had my card kicked back from my sale of some models.

But in my case if I link the same card to EBAY. Then use paypal to make the sale it goes with
out a hitch.

Re: Lithoplane photo selection

I am cutting 6.5 mm corian using a 1/16 bull nose. Set the stepover to 12%.

I attached the color picture used in Photovcarve, the finished cut with no light behind it and finally a photo with
the work with sunlight behind it.

Thanks

raster or not to raster

So when I cut a D&M model on a plaque I get markings when when using the default final tool path. The system will start in the near center cutting a horizontal line. Then each left to right pass make in bigger until its a large box. So when it makes the box the 1/8 BN bit makes small marks in the wo...

Re: trace bitmap advise

Using the Curve to fit located in the edit area after I trace it seems to work the like a charm. As indicated the biggest issue is having great quality helps. Unfortunately some of the bitmaps qualities we locate or purchase in form of scroll saw patterns are not always good quality because of the c...

Design doesn't cut even close to project

]So I created a Halloween image using Design and make Flat_Rectangle1 with wacky bat no. 1 on top on one side. The tool path shows it as designed fine. But when I cut it the rough works fine and many other project have. But with the final it cuts a raised squre in the center 3rd from left to right w...

Re: Feed Rate on fast is safe/quailty

As always Adrian, thanks. It make so much since with the 3D carving since the Z has so much movement. Since it does go up/down so often it can not get the speed like it can when you are doing roughing. I changed one of my existing projects and changed it to 100 ipm. It made the roughing go so much f...

Feed Rate on fast is safe/quailty

So in my reading I read you can up the feed rate of a bit ie 1/4 or 1/8 flat mill or 1/8 ball nose to 100 in/m or even 150 in/m. But when I changed it from 40 to 80 and 100, I really did not noticed any changes. But in reading another topic I discovered my controller, tinyg, had as a $xtr, ytr and z...
