Re: Wavy flag for my grandson in Marines.

Hey Les, That's probably the best execution of the waving Flag with the Marine Corps Seal. Nicely done. I see you filled in the stars.. Did you give any thought about filling in the Vcarving on the seal?? That would been a hard decision, I really like how it looks. The wave has just the right height...

Model Surface Profile using a line

I'm using Aspire Ver8.5. There was/is a feature that if you'd lay/draw a straight line across a model like you were going to split the model or component. Instead of it splitting the model it gave you the profile of the surface along that line. I've looked through the tutorial but haven't found anyt...

Re: Short Time lapse video of a cut

Hey Tim,
Great looking video. What is the plywood oval/elipse at the edge of the table? this a locating lip or edge?
I also noticed about 3-4 seconds in during the first tool change, the camera shook? was that an earth quake?

Great Job

Re: Quality Problems

Would it be possible to upload the file?
Have you made sure there are no duplicate vectors?

When you used the 0.125 bit did you re-zero accurately?

Re: Knife handles

It's rare that your scan will come out 1 to 1 ratio. Your real close to what I think your after. Use (N)ode edit mode and move the nodes around until they fit like you want them to. While in node mode try to get rid of as many nodes as possible. Once the vectors are to your liking. Group all vectors...

Re: bit??

I've Vcarved quite a bit of corian in the past, and it cuts like butter. I've used as small as 0.25 diameter x 60 degree up to 1.5" diameter x 90 degree vbits at various rpms from 6000 to 15000. At the slower rpms my feedrate was 0.50 ips up 3.0 ips with higher rpms. The majority my corian i run is ...

Re: Dull bits

Thanks Leo,
I agree, but there are a few still around.
Now with the cnc grinders, they can do really intricate tooling.
But just like with these cnc routers, It matters where you place the decimal point. (don't ask - it just happens)

Re: Dull bits

One of the benefits I have allows me to of take mine to work and regrind them. I always make sure the final diameter is not on an odd size like 0.247. I'll make sure its either 0.245 or 0.240. I also throw them on a optical comparator to make sure their is no taper. I also use the comarator with the...

Re: Open vectors

Rick,
The set/group of spiral vectors are grouped as 1 entity, if you select that set of vectors, then right click you have the option to ungroup them. You'll find the spiral is an open vector.
