Re: Getting started

Yes call Piranha support.

But 2 years later, you may find that you are out of warranty.

Find a dedicated Piranha CNC forum and post the same question....chances are that another user has experienced the same or similar issue.

I guess you've looked online and read the manual troubleshooting section?

Re: Cutting a step on the outside of a part.

It is always better if you can provide an image or file of what you are trying to machine. This will always help to understand your requirements better and provide informed suggestions/recommendations. I'm not conversant with the limitations of Cut2D, as I'm using Vcarve 9 Pro. In VCarve 9 Pro, this...

Re: Trying to open a .crv3d file from Vectric

But will it open in the trial version of Aspire?

I've not tried the trial version of Aspire yet, so am unaware of the limitations.

I would assume that you can open the file to view, but are not allowed to machine.

Re: VCarve will not Start

As Adrian has said, it may be an issue with the server being down/non available. If you have a web address or IP address that your system is trying to connect to then you can use the ping <server address/IP address> in a DO?S window to see if the server is live. Otherwise I suggest that you wait unt...

Re: Allowance offset

As mentioned already, it always helps to see the design of what you are seeking to machine. Is this a 2D/2.5D shape or 3D shape? What type of toolpath/finish are you looking to achieve? How much of an incremental move are you needing with each pass? What type of bit are you using and dimensions of t...

Re: Ashes box

Thank you Martin and Frank for your replies.

Yes, I did wonder whether I was explicit in my description. In my eyes, an urn was a cylindrical container, which is not what we want. Hence I used the term box.

I will follow up on your suggestions.

Ashes box

Has anyone designed a suitable box to contain ashes please?

If yes, are you able to share the VCarve files please?

Thank you

Re: accuracy is off

Hello, Can you provide more detail as to what is inaccurate? There are no clues so far in your description or the attached file. It is unlikely that VCarve is off, unless you are trying to say that the G=Code generated within VCarve is the problem. In which case are you certain you have selected the...

Re: Cut dimensions are wrong

Hi Bernie, an update. I have loaded your test file in to my machine. I use a 1/2" shank, 3.2mm straight cutter - this is the smallest cutter I go to. I generated a new g-code file (fanuc mm) and run the test piece. I then zoomed to one of the joint slots and overlaid the profile outside toolpath. I ...

Re: Cut dimensions are wrong

Bernie, can you provide the vcarve file that matches with the sample g-code you have already provided please. Only with these 2 files can we attempt to highlight any potential issues that may attribute to this dimensional mismatch.

Many thanks

Re: Cut dimensions are wrong

Thanks Bernie,

Looks like the gcode and material setup is in inches, yet you seem to be working with mm for your original model dimensions and cutter. Is this correct?

Why are you mixing between inch and metric? Most confusing

Re: Cut dimensions are wrong

Yes, i'm in agreement with Adrian on this.

Can you provide a copy of your gcode file please?

This will allow us to confirm the correct cut dimensions are being used. If the cutter is 3.15 dia then this is relatively easy to diagnose.

Re: Cut dimensions are wrong

Could be any number of things including....cutting to wrong side with profile cut, tool incorrectly sized in settings, error with machine setup.

It is always a help if you can provide your vcarve file so that we can cast an independent eye over setup and vectors.

Re: Finishing pass help

I agree with SharkCutUp on this. Sometimes you need to compromise between what you would like and what can be achieved with machining. I have done quite a lot of similar machining in recent months, and have had to play with various fonts to achieve an acceptable design and outcome. I do not go less ...
