Re: Edit a 3D object created in Aspire?
So I'm pretty sure I did this wrong but I exported the object as 3D Clipart then used it to combine with other clipart I had created so the geometry is not in the project any longer. I really think all my problems appeared when I added a background "Bark" to the object it/me jacked up all the vector...

Edit a 3D object created in Aspire?
Is it possible to go back and edit a 3D object in "Drawing" that you've created in Aspire?
I have the need to modify the geometry in a 3D object I've created...
Thanks

Re: Roughing 3D object
Bigger!
A plunge cut vs is much tougher on tooling and machine vs a standard back and forth and loading the bit 30-40%.
Thanks for the reply

Roughing 3D object
So I'm running a 3D object that does a couple of "rough" passes and I don't understand why instead of clearing the material in a nice even back and forth X axis move it moves further into the Y axis then comes back and cleans up? Can that be fixed? Is there a setting to turn that off? Adam, IMG_1393...

Re: Looking for some flourish...
So just to follow up... I was able to resolve my problem by measuring the oval that was jagged length and width. Since the oval had flat points I was able to get good numbers, I then created 2 lines across my model space from corner to corner, since my model is centered in the space it gave me a cen...

Is there a way to identify where the bad vector is in space.. possibly the center point?

Re: Looking for some flourish...
So my project is nearing completion and I found that I'm having a problem with the inner and outer ovals of the model and somehow in translation it's lost its shape and they are now jagged. So the first image shows that I drew the oval vectors and they are shaped correctly. 0001.jpg The second image...

Re: Best material for 3D carving..
Wow! Impressive works...
What bits are you using for the detail and how long is it taking to carve them?
Redwood, Cherry and Maple shooting to the top of my list..
Is there a specific type of redwood to use, my exposure to redwood has always been less than tight grained...

Re: Best material for 3D carving..
Thanks for the input - I'll give some cherry and maple a try.
Great carvings Scott, what type of bit did you use for those?

Best material for 3D carving..
Just wanted to ask what people have had good success with when carving 3D objects in wood with high detail. I realize part of the success will come from using the correct bit and feed/speed but the material alone has to have the largest impact on the success of the project. I'm about to start cuttin...

Re: Mach 3 Windows 7 Setup Questions
More questions... Was this a hardware change or just an OS upgrade? So, I have limited experience compared to some of the guys on the forum, they know their stuff. I've found that there were issues for me in terms of parallel port communications with my G540 after upgrading to new hardware and a new...

Re: Mach 3 Windows 7 Setup Questions
Hi Dan, I run MACH in Windows 7 without issue. I've recently installed a smoothstepper and there were some suggestions on their website that might be helpful (https://warp9td.com/index.php/faq/faq-windows#Andys) I have not performed anything out of the normal when initially installed other than a cl...

I'll go ahead and remove the text in the model and then re-add when needed.
Thanks.

Re: Looking for some flourish...
Joe, The model already has the text combined with it. So, when I import this into my main project its essentially a complete piece. I'm uncertain what you mean by "project onto 3D model"? Should I create the 3D model without the text and then add that in my final project and the project that onto th...
