Re: 3d STL model Toolpath
Thank you Michael,
I pulled up a YouTube video on zero plane and that helped but I clearly need to re-read and re-watch info on 3d toolpaths as things aren't lining up as I thought they would. Again, thanks for taking time to set me off in the right direction.

3d STL model Toolpath
I thought I understood this process but clearly I am missing something. I have a STL(pic attached). I to subtract this from my stock. I defined my material as 1x1x1 and imported the STL, selected orientation as the bottom and set the zero plane position at 0 (top of my material) with a subtract mode...

Re: Compact metal plate engraver
Interesting laser discussion but I thought the original poster was looking for a cheap way to engrave metal. A diamond drag point will mark any soft metals or anodized aluminum. Any of the small foot print should work. Or did I miss something?

Re: How to carve this?
John/Randall,
Yes, those are what I am trying to do. The example by Randall was made in version 10 and I have 9.5 now and can't open it. I tried using a fluting tool path but am doing something wrong.

How to carve this?
This is just a handle with a finger loop. I'm having trouble conceiving how to carve this handle. Specifically the base round over from the inside of the ring to the top level. Any suggestions appreciated.
TIA

Re: DXF units
Thanks Adrian. That gives me info that maybe I can find how to have Cura assume inch instead of metric.

DXF units
When I save an Aspire project that is designed in inches as a DXF the units are undefined when I import them into other software. Can anyone enlighten me how to prevent that? When I export the other software as an STL it saves as MM's. And when I bring that into Cura for slicing I have to scale by 2...

Re: Calling all Vectricians for our COMPETITION - Operation SMILE
A nurse friend of mine is at that stage where they are asked to reuse their n95 masks. He asked if I could come up with something that would allow him to take it off and put it on again without having to touch the outer surface of the mask. I photographed the mask to get its shape, then imported int...

John, I swear I checked that 3 times. Thank you for taking the time to look at this. As usual, my fault.
