Re: Setting '0' position of ruler to center of page

Thank you!
Wouldn't it be nice if I looked at the screen and read what I saw before asking stupid questions?

Setting '0' position of ruler to center of page

Hi all, I got a screen shot of how someone rounded over corners a few weeks ago that I noticed had the rule zero in the middle of the material box, not on the left side of it. I have a need now to center my '0' in the middle of the page instead of the left edge. Other graphic programs I just click t...

Re: My spindle dropped to the bottom of the Z axis

I may be a bit late into this thread but I had this issue many times prior to having my Controller rebuilt. Whenever I moved the gantry out of the way to get better access to either load another piece or needed to examine the cut before proceeding, Mach3 would not return to zero and start again. It ...

Re: raster or not to raster

I'm not entirely familiar with Vcarve so take this advice at your own peril. I found the exact same thing happening when I used the pocket toolpath. I changed to profile and the issue was still there in a subdued way. Then I upped the spindle speed until I was getting distint chips and not du...

Re: Trouble with radius toolpath Help please?

Using a small bit like that will take quite a bit of time to cut a radius around the edge, I wouldn't even use the CNC for a job like that. Much quicker on a router table. If you do have to use the CNC then using a profile cut with a round over bit will be much quicker or if you have to cut it usin...

Trouble with radius toolpath Help please?

Hello all, I've got a 350mm long 41mm wide 31mm deep piece I'm trying to radius the 4 edges with a 10mm radius. No matter how or what I do I can't calculate the toolpath. I've chosen a 4mm ball end bit, drawn firstly an outer rectangle and tried to radius it and then made an inner rectangle, then tr...

Re: Not entirely a design issue but fonts with varying width

If you've ever looked at 10,000 files for a visual look-a-like you'll know I must be a sadist. But I found one nearly perfect. Do a google search for "Identify fonts", there several online sites that you can upload a sample of the font you are looking for. Now if you have a look in mind and no samp...

Re: Carve simple straight line

Interested in why they can't be picked up in the carving tool Path? A V-Carve toolpath ALWAYS needs a closed vector because it is carving in the space between the vectors. A profile toolpath ON the vector can be used with open or closed vectors. You may find it helpful to watch the Profile Toolpath...

Re: Type of font

Retirement is the best job I've ever had :D :D :D highly recommend it. This retirement thing must be American, is it? I retired a couple of times but got so bored travelled the country in a bus I converted to a motor home, I went back to work converting busses for people intending to retire. I went...

Re: Not entirely a design issue but fonts with varying width

A lot of times you will have trouble V-carving overlapping vectors. Can you isolate different elements of the design and make separate tools paths for each so you don't have vectors crossing others? Like below, you could make A&B one path and "a" a second path to prevent the problem. OK, I went the...

Re: Not entirely a design issue but fonts with varying width

Not sure if there is a limit...would seem to be to be mostly a memory issue if anything. I've had at least 50 toolpaths in one file before (a production job with 10 sheets, each of which had 5-6 toolpaths). It gets a bit cumbersome after you go beyond one screen, but it does work. Thanks for the re...

Re: Not entirely a design issue but fonts with varying width

If you are using a script then weld the letters together to remove the overlaps, remember to deselect the centres of any letters before welding or they will disappear  As for the wavy circles do you want the waves to be uniform or random ? Do you want the 3 circles to be the same shape but jus...

I downloaded jpeg image of tree cross sections from web used bitmap tracing to do outer rings and deleted unwanted areas-did same for bear V-carved with .5 inch 60 degree v-bit Hope this helps Thank you for going to this t...

Re: Edge lit

I make edge lit signs regularly using 5mm Chinese made acrylic sheet. I think what you are experiencing is because of cutting too fast for the speed of the spindle. When I use a 90º, 12 mm (just under half inch) bit at 1200 RPM. I need to slow down the direction speed chosen for the bit by Vcarve. H...
