Re: Holiday Gift Ideas and plans
OK I figured out that my zipped project file was too large! I had to break up the project into each critter. So here is what I have to share: PigComplete.jpg A few years ago I created these cartoon moose and pig window hangers for Christmas gifts. They are cut from 1/4" (0.233") BB Plywood. All proj...

Re: Holiday Gift Ideas and plans
Thank you for sharing! I'm trying to upload a project but every time I type up a post and attempt to attach a file the page goes blank and the post gets lost. I have zipped up the crv3d file to make it smaller and even tried just uploading a small image. any ideas what I am doing wrong? BoorT

While my CNC router is too small (~12"x12" envelope) to cut the design and send a picture. I have downloaded it so that I can learn from your design. Thank you for allowing us all access to your design! Best wishes to you in your fight against COPD.

Brian I do not know how dependent the existing code is on Aspire but may I suggest that the point cloud capturing engine could be set up as a standalone program and then open sourced. Let the community expand the functionality. I know that some of the folks working on the Cupcake and Makerbot 3d pri...

Wally Here is an Otter http://www.3dcadbrowser.com/preview.aspx?modelcode=740 They also have a beaver model but it is not set up as a float plane. Re: can you work in aspire on both sides of material
lpawlett I don't see why vcarve pro could not do this or even Cut2d for that matter. Most of my work in this project is profile cuts, pockets, and peck drilling that needs to be lined up on both sides. I have also added some v-carving to the front side for decoration. The only part that is Aspire sp...

Re: can you work in aspire on both sides of material
Lee, You can certainly design and machine both sides of a project in Aspire. I'm in the middle of doing a project now. What I have done is : 1) design the back cuts, and program the tool paths, include an extra toolpath that drilled some index holes in scrap on the back side. 2) create a new layer f...

The pics if "exotic" looks a lot like some Cocobolo that I have used here. If you cut it does it have a chocolate like smell? If it is it is hard oily stuff that generally takes a nice polish.

Graham I think that this is the same Khalid who is active on the David Laser Scanner forums and runs the http://free3dscans.blogspot.com/ site. (The same sofa pics posted to the blog earlier today so I think this is a good assumption :) ) If so check out these links to see some of the awesome work K...

Re: Glass Jar Jig
Ron I like your jig idea. Will it work without having some sort of hold down for each jar? How about a clamp across the mouths or a finger that pushes down inside the jar (like half of a clothes pin?) I have done glasses on an Epilog laser and while it can be done without a holddown I have always us...

Larry I often use the clipart from Dover Publications (http://www.doverpublications.com/) the geometric, Celtic and many of the Japanese designs carve well. Here is a link to all of their vector offerings: http://store.doverpublications.com/by-subject-clip-art-and-design-on-cd-rom-vector-designs.htm...
