Re: Shop Drawings

This is one thing that is severely lacking in vectric's products. Even the ability to print is super limited.

Re: Molding toolpath in PVC - what bits to use ?

+2 tomgardiner's post I have had several projects carving HDPE using a vacuum and for chip removal and yes the chips stick to everything due to static especially during the cooler weather months. So yeah either a vacuum or air bursts can help in keeping the bit cool along with chip removal during t...

Re: Noob question

Thank you…. I’m saving the tool paths in Vectric as grbl inches. Then loading into UGS. One day this stuff will click lol I appreciate your time. Don't use the GRBL Inches post processor. It breaks the code sometimes. Best bet is to out to the mm post processor, even if your design is in inches. Ba...

Re: VFD Spindle Opinions

I find water-cooled is not nearly as much of a hassle as I thought it would be. Spindles don't get so hot that you need a chiller and big tank, as you would with a laser. Is your machine a production machine or a hobby machine? I have Hunyang Kit on my home machine (water cooled) with good success. ...

Re: Avoiding Machine Gotchya's

From my experiences, people tend to run their machines too SLOW, not too fast.

It's almost as if there's a contest of who can take the longest time to do a relief cut. "here it is, after 36 hours cutting" type stuff.

v 11.5 Scale by percentage no longer available??

I'm probably missing something basic here. I just upgraded from 10.5 to 11.5. If I go to resize something in the size dialog box, the percentage is no longer a textbox. I can't just enter in a percentage like I used to. To me, this is very basic functionality that I've lost. Did they move the abilit...

Re: How to rotate 3D on the Z Axis?

Hi Steven, If that’s the type of project he wants to do, Michael Mezalick made a video tutorial a few months ago that shows a practical technique. Here’s the link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QmHfItOdKHY THANKS! This is exactly what I was looking for! I'd have never thought to look at the measuri...

How to rotate 3D on the Z Axis?

I've got years of experience with V-Carve, but I'm new to Aspire. I'm playing with the trial version and can't figure out something that I think should be easy. I can create a 3D shape. I can rotate the shape along the XY no problem. But how do I rotate in 3D space? Example, trying to do parametric ...

I've found V-Carve to be quite lacking in 2 headed CNC control.

Is this a 2 headed Shopbot?

Re: Convert a G code file

Sometimes .NC files can contain subroutines in them, which isn't something that GRBL can handle. If the NC file doesn't use these, you should be OK. I can't remember, off the top of my head, what other differences there ae.

Would be nice if they gave us more options to customize them.
