Re: 3D carve from a Photo

An old one I did of my cousin in Aspire from a greyscale image. Certainly not great, but I rather liked it. Looks better in person than the photo...

Re: How do I cut a 45 degree angle on a flat plane?

That's why it is called a miter fold bit. The grain is perfectly matched, because you don't cut all the way through. You leave a small skin and simply fold it.

Re: Modeling question

I think the last free version that doesn't require the cloud was, Make 2017. It can still be downloaded from Sketchup, here:

Re: Error righting to readme txt error

Leo, Something that has workde for me, when Windows gets wonky - Commands to repair corrupt/missing files in Windows: From an elevated command prompt, type the following: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth followed by: sfc /scannow Much faster than a re-install. A quick way to open a new instance of Aspire is to simply hold down the shift key while clicking the taskbar icon.

Re: A couple gadgets not working

I'm having the same issue with, "attempt to call global 'ToolDBid' (a nil value)" after downloading the Box Creator gadget v1.0. I'm running Aspire 9.519. Is this gadget only for v10? This is with an open blank project. The reason I tried to update was that I had no problem creating a finger joint b...

Re: cleaning up a touch probe scan

Of course, my rendering isn't exact - I just took your heightmap and used that to get an approximate profile for the molding toolpath, and didn't take any time on the rosette and flowers...

Re: cleaning up a touch probe scan

Probes can be handy for things like this gargoyle: Gargoyle1.png But for what you are doing, I'd simply recreate it with a molding toolpath (then create a component from that, to add the rosette and flower carvings, like so: It can be much more accurate, and no issues with the artifacts from the pro...

Toolpath Summary area 9.517

Hi all, I'm probably missing something simple, but I remember a toolpath summary area under the toolpath list in my old version, that listed max cut depth, etc. I can't find it in the new version (9.517). Is there a way to get it back without creating a job sheet? It was very handy to get some toolp...

Re: Initializing Postscript

Thanks Steven, There really is no error thrown. The dialog is from Aspire, itself. The first time you ever run it, It initializes the fonts. It is never supposed to happen after the very first time Aspire is run. It's not a show stopper - I have a very fast machine so it doesn't take long, and then ...

Re: Initializing Postscript

Michael,

Yep, running as Admin... I'm going to shoot off an e-mail to Vectric support - see if they have any ideas! If so, I'll post back here, in case anyone else ever runs into this issue. I'm starting to wonder if on of the new Microsoft updates had anything to do with it! ;-{

Re: Initializing Postscript

Thanks for the reply, Michael.

No font manager installed. This is a fresh build. The popup for initializing postscript fonts, is the standard one you see when you first run Aspire. It's only supposed to happen the first time. Aspire still runs fine, just takes longer to start up! Got me stumped...
