Re: Problem with 3D cut job

Problem solved. With a lot of help from member BillK we figured the the machine soft limits were probably to blame. I still don't know exactly why it wasn't working as my Z was set to 250mm or almost 10" of travel and I only needed about 4" I changed the Z setting to 300mm and it worked. I don't see...

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

Anyway you can send me the tap file? I’ll take a look at the code. Send me a PM and I’ll give you my email. One other thought: reset the jig to a different spot on your table, a couple of inches in X, a couple in Y. Just to see if its the machine in that spot. You can probably just run an air cut b...

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

So I just ran this again and changed the gap above material to 2.25 inches and safe Z to .4" which is a ton of extra room and the problem is the same. It mills out EXACTLY the same I thought it would be fine or less or even more but it is exactly the same. I don't know what else to try.

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

If the preview looks correct then the problem is most l;ikely else where, can't help with code as I don't read it although I really should learn   your not hitting the top stop on your z axis are you? That would affect your set z axis zero position, also check for binding towards the to...

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

I just looked at it and saw the same thing you did. I think the values are +/- mm's for the movement of the Z. At least that is what it looks like to me

Just one other quick question: are you using the post processor for your machine to save the toolpaths for both sides? I know it defaults to Shark toolpaths in the crv file.
Yes I am. In my case it is "Laguna IQ HHC (mm) (*mmg)"

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

Okay this may sound like a silly/crazy question --- Why are you changing the SAFE Z from Side one (TOP) to side two (BOTTOM)??? Even the Home position Z Changes from TOP to BOTTOM!!! Isn't the material in a fixture at a fixed position? Sharkcutup Yes Material is in a fixture. The software is doing ...

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

With my bit in the chuck and the Z at its limit I have the following measurements From the Bit to the Bed 4.75" Gap From the Bit to the Bottom of Material 4.03" Gap From the Bit to the Top of Material 2.25" Gap So if I set a gap of 2 inches about my material I should not be maxing out my Z travel. T...

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

Go to the Shark forum. There are a lot of posts on it there. One that I saw says on the pawn the Z clearance is set too high, I think 1.86, on the second side file that you are having trouble with. Since that is close to the clearance you say you have, you may be exceeding the Z travel and losing t...

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

The preview looks correct. The thing I find strange is that it cuts it in a straight line, It isn't even cutting it at a arc at the wrong height it just tops out and then goes straight across. Is there a max Z setting that I am missing?

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

I received the drawing for my bit and the only difference is that the default bit in the .crv is 5deg taper and my bit is 3.5deg taper. I will make the adjustment but not sure that is the issue.

Re: Problem with 3D cut job

This is the second piece I tried to cut out and the first one had the same results. The first one was at a thickness of 1.75 and I did not adjust the material size in the software and thought that, that was my issue. For the one posted above the material thickness is exactly 1.78 as I thought that w...
