Re: edge lit acrylic sign question

Agree with using the engraving toolpath and cross hatch, have had good success. Shallow depth, but make sure the Plexiglas is flat. I don't mean flat, I mean really FLAT. You etch so shallow you might miss spots otherwise.

Re: Stacked Text

A few lessons learned, I had to node edit the bottom of the n's and m's to make sure I could get my 1/8th endmill through there. also make sure your bit is long enough. Made great presents.

Re: First Epoxy Inlay

To make sure I understand the process, you put a ribbon of hot glue on the outside border of areas you're going to epoxy so you can over-pour the epoxy, and then mill it back to Z=0?? Does the epoxy mill OK with and endmill? What do you use to sand the epoxy? Thanks

Re: Do not update to a new post-processor if you had one that works!!

Thanks Steve, I have 10.5 for my Shark CNC and have only run one project since installing it. I did use Next Wave's post processor that came with 10.5. Had no problems but had a scary moment. Re: Sandpaper grits...now the same on the pond:)

Unfortunately my dust collection is limited to leaving the garage door open and a large fan. Wife's not that happy about it as her car is in the line of fire.

Desktop vs V Carve Pro

I've been using Desktop for a few years and am considering upgrading to Pro. I'm just a in the garage tinkerer, make things for friends woodworker. Is it worth it? The only thing I've noticed is that some of the free projects only come in Pro and Aspire. Is there anything else I would gain?

How to create this

The picture is a family crest, but it is so detailed I have had little luck bringing it in as a bitmap. Is there a better way I can create vectors for this?

Re: Newbie needs help on settings

I like the look of that spotting bit, it would be interesting to cut the same pattern on some pine with that bit as well as a standard "V".
