Can it be used as an InLay press....
I am sure that I will find some uses for it. I want to do a test with some of the practice screws that I made to find out how much torque I can use. I am unwilling to find out where the failure point is on this project!

Bookpress

I am going to be taking a bookmaking course later this year; they suggest trying to bring a bookpress if you've got one. I didn't have one, so I made one! White Oak finished with Osmo (a finish I would replace my blood with if I could). I have very happy with the crossbar - I used a 1/16 tapered bal...

Re: Another Sign R2KBA

Nice work! You roughed it at 300 IMP with a 10 mm bit? That is a lot faster than I usually do. i usually top out at about 100 IPM. I'd love to hear from others about what speeds you would rough that out at. You said that you didn't get the best results with that bit/speed combination. Do you think c...

Re: Router Plane

I also will say great job. l often am at my traditional bench using hand planes or had cutting dovetails while my CNC is busy working away. I've received a fair amount of ribbing from friends who think that I am not a real woodworker anymore because of my CNC. I think that woodworking skills make yo...

Re: toolpath issues

Don't understand what you mean by "select"? What specifically are you doing differently in the two examples? If I highlight the entire drawing and components all in one go, the toolpaths are all weird. If it does not work, then if I select, the wings, for example, and do a finish tool path on those...

toolpath issues

I have been having issues with toolpath creation. Here is what I want to copy: 62ec83bff7859b8d6b12bafc1f3458d5.jpg If I select the entire drawing with all the comentents at one time, this is the result: raven fail.JPG If I select component by component, this is the result: raven good.JPG This is my...

CNC made bench and chair

IMG_4998.jpg I have made some prototypes of a bench and chair. I made them in spruce (the black is spruce with General Finishes dye stain). I just wanted to see how the design looked, and how it felt. Designs can look great on paper (or onscreen) but don't deliver on comfort. I used a corner chisel...

Thank-you for the great information. My machine is on its way, so I will stick with Mach3 for now, but will look into the options that you outlined here.

Aspire and Mach4

Is anyone using Mach4 with Aspire? I have always used Mach3, and with good success. I really have not had any issues with it. On the website, they bill Mach4 as a reworking of the software; increased speed, being able to handle larger files. Does anyone know, are these real world benefits? I have ju...

Re: Using a Wacom Intuos Pro with Aspire

I use the Wacom Intuos (not pro) tablet for my modeling in Aspire. I have not used it for anything else. Personally I find the mouse easier for most functions, but for modeling, it works great.
