Re: Router Plane
I also will say great job. l often am at my traditional bench using hand planes or had cutting dovetails while my CNC is busy working away. I've received a fair amount of ribbing from friends who think that I am not a real woodworker anymore because of my CNC. I think that woodworking skills make yo...

Re: toolpath issues
Don't understand what you mean by "select"? What specifically are you doing differently in the two examples? If I highlight the entire drawing and components all in one go, the toolpaths are all weird. If it does not work, then if I select, the wings, for example, and do a finish tool path on those...

toolpath issues
I have been having issues with toolpath creation. CNC made bench and chair
IMG_4998.jpg I have made some prototypes of a bench and chair. I made them in spruce (the black is spruce with General Finishes dye stain). I just wanted to see how the design looked, and how it felt. Designs can look great on paper (or onscreen) but don't deliver on comfort. I used a corner chisel...

Re: Aspire and Mach4
Thank-you for the great information. My machine is on its way, so I will stick with Mach3 for now, but will look into the options that you outlined here.

Aspire and Mach4
Is anyone using Mach4 with Aspire? I have always used Mach3, and with good success. I really have not had any issues with it. On the website, they bill Mach4 as a reworking of the software; increased speed, being able to handle larger files. Does anyone know, are these real world benefits? I have ju...

Nice job.
I'm beginning to use Alder a lot for my work. I really like it. It carves great and finishes very nicely.

Re: Using a Wacom Intuos Pro with Aspire
I use the Wacom Intuos (not pro) tablet for my modeling in Aspire. I have not used it for anything else. Personally I find the mouse easier for most functions, but for modeling, it works great.

Two rail sweep issues
I could use some help. I'm programing a cut for a table edge. I want a uniform taper. When I do a round table, it works great. table edge round.jpg table edge round drawing.JPG When I try to do the same thing with an oval, the edge thickness is inconsistent. I understand why, I think. It is calculat...

copy of a museum piece
I saw this in the Havana national arts museum this weekend and thought that I would try to copy it - Aspire scultping tools work well - I needed a little help from another program though. But I am reasonably happy with it.

Rocking Chair with All parts cut on CNC
This is the chair that I designed and made. This is the third attempt at it. The first one was powerfully uncomfortable. I learned a lot from that one. The second one was much better. This one is just right. I hate plywood. It is going to be a long time before I work with it again. I could not have ...
