Re: stools
The dark stool is red oak that was stained with india ink, and then clear coated.
India ink creates the best black that I've found.

stools
I've been making some stools with woven or paracord seats. The designs is pretty simple, but weaving the paracord takes quite a while.

Re: Inlay Cutting Board
That is really beautiful. Why would you need to go to a 15 degree bit? I just finished this one for my daughter using a 60 degree bit, There is some tear out around the edges I was thinking of going to a 30 degree bit next time. uni1.jpg I certainly agree about the time spent gluing up these boards,...

Re: masking peeling paint off of MDF
I do a lot of this. I remove the mask by rolling it back, and dragging it straight back keeping it flat on the surface. If I peel it at a higher angle, it can remove the paint. I've started using artists acrylic gesso as a primer. It's a thick, sandable, fast drying acrylic paint. 2 coats sanded cre...

broken bit
I was using a whiteside 1/4 inch compression bit to cut out a 10 inch circle on 7/8 inch thick hard maple. I was using 150 ipm .25 pass depth and the bit and the bit broke about 3/4 inch deep into the cut. I had used the same bit and speeds cutting 18mm baltic birch with no problems. Was pass depth ...

Re: cut through material message
I really don't need that double check, I can look at the preview and see that it cut through. There should be an option under Edit - Options to turn it off. That way everyone is happy. That would make the software better. btw, artcam does not nag you, and people are not clamoring to have it warn you.

cut through material message
Is there any way to turn off the warning message that appears every single time I save a tool path that cuts through the material, or at least have it appear just once for the toolpath. I find it really, really, really annoying, and the default on the box is cancel, so I can't even hit return to get...

vcarve 9 desktop trial
I've got the trials installed of cut2d desktop, vcarve desktop and pro. Both cut2d desktop and vcarve pro will import vectors from adobe illustrator. On vcarve 9 desktop trial, the import vectors, bitmaps, and import component / 3d model are all greyed out. I understand the 3d stuff is not in vcarve...
