Stacked Rough and Finish Toolpaths?
I'm carving the model shown in the image. The material I'm using is five layers of 0.75" thickness, glued up to make a 3.75" thickness. The model is much wider at its base and tapers inward to the top. So as not to waste material, I used a base layer 16x14. Centered on that, the next two layers are ...

Add Aspire to Windows "New" Menu
I realized it would help me a lot if I could right-click in a folder and use the "New..." menu to start an Aspire file. So here are the steps I took. Note: you have to be willing to edit the Windows Registry to do this, so if you're not sure what you're doing, back it up first. And if you screw it u...

Feature Request: Specific Tooltip for Undo and Redo
When I want to undo an action in Aspire, on the Drawing tab I have access to Undo (and Redo) in the File Operations section*. But often I'm not sure what Aspire considers the last action to be, and I want to know that I'm undoing (or redoing) the proper action. If I go to the Edit menu, I will find ...

Model Position in Material - for Slices
I've got a problem involving slicing. I wonder if there's a way to do this. I have material planed to 1.75" and a 3" model which needs a 1/4" backing behind it. I will slice the model at 1.5" so that there are two slices 1.5" deep. The "Model position in material" for the bottom slice will be 0 gap ...

New Feature Suggestion: Selected Area for Preview Image
I request that this feature be added to Aspire (and any of the other products it applies to) in an update. I am making an 8x10 PhotoVCarve image for a client. I create previews of several options and let her choose which one she wants. Every time I save a preview, it saves Aspire's entire work area,...

What Woods Work Best for PhotoVCarve?
The subject says it. I figured this had been asked before now, but didn't find anything by searching. Pine is out, in my opinion. Probably cedar and other softwoods, too. I had thought Maple would work well, and it has a few times, but I've had problems with contrast in dark and light. I put sealer ...

Re: Can't Add Tool to Database
This is interesting. I had copied the text value from my calculator after dividing 1 by 32. Then each time I tried to change the diameter, I pasted it in. Aspire will let me change the value by pasting, but apparently it doesn't register that it has changed. adze_cnc said, "after typing in 0.03125...

Re: Can't Add Tool to Database
I'm entering a round-nose end mill whose cutting tip is 1/32. The shaft is 1/8, but the cutting tip is the value i'm entering for diameter. That isn't relevant to the problem, though, as the same thing happens no matter what I'm trying to enter. It does it with a 3/16 drill bit I need to get in ther...

Can't Add Tool to Database
I can't seem to add a tool to my database. I'm using Aspire 10.021. Linked below is a recording of me trying to add a 1/32 ball nose to the database. First I do it by copying the 1/16 ball nose and editing it to change the diameter to 0.03125. It lets me put this in the textbox, but the Apply butt...

Re: Serious Problem - Code or Controller?
Thanks to all who responded. I should have mentioned that the five previous masks were all different, not the same code as this mask. I mentioned them because I didn't have any issues before this one. I haven't contacted Axiom support, but I have posted an identical message on the Facebook Axiom gro...

Serious Problem - Code or Controller?
I'm using Aspire 10 and have a one year old Axiom AR8 CNC. I am carving a series of masks for a client and the result so far has been perfect on five masks. Suddenly I began to have troubles repeatedly, and I don't know whether the trouble is with the code or the controller. The AR8 isn't computer-c...

Accidentally Bilingual Help File
At least, I assume it's accidental. While I can select the text and pop over to Google translate to find out what it says, I'd rather not have to.

Re: Chest
Nice work! I used that plywood bending method to make one for a girlfriend's daughter many years ago. This year I made some for grand-nephews. Instead of bending plywood, I used slats cut with a slight angle on one side so that they follow the curve as they butt together.
