Re: vacuum tables

Thank you all, the more I read about a vacuum set up the less I want to build one, it is only a hobby for me, but hopefully, I can make some money soon, so I think I will stick with clamps for now, low-level clamps if I can find some

Re: vacuum tables

Thank you all for the advice, I will look into all suggestions, I just had a quick look at the Rockler pods, not expensive but shipping and tax to the UK is a killer, I will look at making them or getting some in the UK, the noise was something I forgot to consider, I have now got some reading to do...

vacuum tables

Has anyone got advice on vacuum tables, either buying one or building one, I thought they would be better than clamps, which seem to be in the way all the time,

Re: pocket toolpath v profile toolpath

As for the ranking take no notice of it, it is based solely on how many posts you have made & not on any level of knowledge or experience. Martin, I am not concerned about the ranking at all, it's like getting brownie points the ones I deleted were not the size specified, when measured with a callip...

Re: pocket toolpath v profile toolpath

It was not a pocket allowance set without my knowing, but in the pocket toolpath under tools, I have several tools listed, all end mills of different sizes, some are the same size but have different feed rates and plunge rates set, and I can't seem to delete any of them, in all other toolpaths I jus...

pocket toolpath v profile toolpath

I had to do a pocket yesterday and it did not come out the size it was supposed to be, so I did some testing this morning, I cut a 3" circle, cut on the inside, profile toolpath, and it was exactly 3" when measured, I then cut a 3" pocket, using the pocket toolpath and when measured it was 3 1/8" I ...

Re: 3d carving

The second one carved perfectly, so I still don't know what happened with the first one, well, I say it carved perfectly, but when I cut the tabs off it cupped as I was expecting, once the stress is released it cups toward the cut out side, I have been working with wood for a long time now and still...

3d carving

Yesterday I started a 3d carve, it was 21 inches in Y and 15 inches in X and 0.9 inch thick, I did a roughing toolpath, a finishing toolpath and a profile toolpath to cut it out, the roughing toolpath I stopped after 2 passes as it was going to take another 2 hours mostly cutting air, and went to th...

Re: HGH15CA Rail Block Slider

Thank you all for the replies, the rail holes are covered with caps and the Hiwin blocks have rubber wipers fitted, I do also wipe the rails with a lightly oiled cloth now and then, I have got this grease== https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=188014&vat_inc=true&gclid=CjwK...
