Re: Help with how create tool path and machine this part

Dear Acs_User For me your gut instinct to tilt the part is correct. You will need a long cutter to 'reach' down but then they are just a series of pocket toolpaths. If you can set up to come at it from the front. You can zero to the bed, measure to the 'top' of the pocket then to the bottom of the p...

Other considerations

Dear Sharkcutup My thoughts are less about the financial viability of the training but more about the content! For example who will choose the content of your sessions and how will you test the effectiveness? For example in Further Education the curriculum is determined by awarding bodies who have l...

Re: Recovery of Default Tool Database in VCarve Pro 10

Dear Rebecca

Start vCarve and open the application folder from within the [File] menu. Copy your backed up tool.tool_dd file to the ToolDadabase folder. Restart vCarve and hey presto!

Sincerely and in good faith

Back to basics

Dear ... Are you still with us? If I go back to your original post it looks to me like you are cutting out a part then wanting to work on the edges of that part - Although this is possible if you take certain steps to retain accuracy - the perceived wisdom is to do all the work on the part and then ...

Flute on a Profile toolpath

Dear Dave

You could use a profile toolpath machining on the line this will force the cut back to the start point for each pass. You can also node edit the start point direction to that required.

Overlapping vectors

Dear Russell When it has happened to me it turned out to be overlapping, duplicate and/or open vectors. You can get the programme to check for duplicate or open vectors. Overlapping vectors is more tricky you need to select a vector then when highlighted look carefully for overlaps that will have oc...

Something different perhaps

Dear Tailmaker I hear you about wanting to keep using the old grey matter; and I am on the side of you camping neighbours when it comes to keeping the noise down. Have you considered something quieter like vinyl cutting or 3D printing? They are quiet and portable. You are spoilt for choice on your s...

Re: Half/Split columns using two 2x4s

Dear Randall

Looks good (and quick)

For those without 'rotary' or a 5th axis - it is possible to make columns from flat stock and an 18mm Radius Cutter. But not quick!

Grannies Tooth

Dear Sir Lovely work. Nice to see you showing the boys (and girls?) these traditional skills. It's called a 'Grannies Tooth' here in the UK. The Stanley No 71 has a depth stop which the lads found particularly usefull when cutting out the treads and riser housings in their stair strings. A few quest...
