I have yet to find a way to import a clean copy, without a lot of cleanup, or better yet just building it myself from scratch. I am trying to design a placard of my old fire helmet shield. In real life, the shield is made of two pieces of leather sewn together. My question is how to create a vector looking like a stitch line?

If everything looks correct in the Toolpath Preview then I'd agree with Hermie that you have an alignment issue. If you'd care to post the drawing file someone maybe able to help further. Tool sizes look ok. Is the machine properly configured? If you tell it to move one inch does it move exactly one inch etc?
