Re: Help understanding VCarve Flat Depth

I would agree with the z-zero setting as it is set to material top in the file. Another thing I was thinking is that when you say the actual depth was 0.1875" is that precise or about? If the depth was actually 0.15875 that would be 2.54 times your expected depth. That is an inches to metric conver...

Re: Help understanding VCarve Flat Depth

If you hover the mouse over the toolpath it will show you the maximum depth the toolpath will cut to which is 0.0625" in this case. You can also hover the mouse over areas in the 3D preview and it will tell you the cut depth at that location. Again none are deeper than 0.0625". The most likely scen...

Re: Help understanding VCarve Flat Depth

Could be a number of things (I think) - Wood isn't completely flat - Tool definition isn't exact to your bit you're using (flat tip round tip, angle isn't actually 60degree, could be 58,59 etc). - Movement of your steps on your machine aren't as exact as you think and would need to be calibrated. D...

Help understanding VCarve Flat Depth

Hello everyone, I'm looking to get some help with an issue I'm having. I carved out a design using the vcarve toolpath in VCarve Pro version 9.5 and set my start depth to 0.0 inches and my Flat Depth to 0.0625 inch. When my machine carved this, the actual depth of cut was .1875 inch. I was using a 6...

Re: Invalid Gcode Error ID:24

Yes Adrian. When running the Bevel gcode it says on or before Line 80. When running the Cutout gcode I didn't pay attention to what it said but it was at the same location physically.

Re: Invalid Gcode Error ID:24

No crash when loading the code into PicSender. This happens part way through the Bevel cut on the first pass as well as part way through the first cut in the cutout portion. I don't run anything else and no screen saver on the laptop. It's a dedicated laptop running windows 7. The only program open ...

Re: Invalid Gcode Error ID:24

I run projects using a laptop and internal Hard Drive. I have not tried to start from scratch with another similar project to try duplicating the problem. What exactly is error 24 anyway? All I can find about it is that there is more than one gcode being sent causing an axis conflict or something li...

Re: Invalid Gcode Error ID:24

I have an xcarve machine. I'm using the processors they provide. I work in inches so I'm using the Processor labeled X_Carve (inch)(*.gcode) I also send it to the machine using Picsender from Pic engrave. I should add that the processor has always worked fine, as has Picsender. I created the project...

Invalid Gcode Error ID:24

Can someone please help me. I am getting this error and I can't figure out what's causing it and how to fix it. I have uploaded the entire project to my Google Drive. I have version 9.517 of VCarve Pro for those that may take a look. Here is the link to where the files are. It's happening in both th...

Re: Flat Area Clearance going too deep.

Yes. That's the part I have a hard time wrapping my head around. I can create a project in vcarve pro and view the toolpath's and everything looks great but when sending it to my machine is when it goes haywire. I know it's not the post processors because I've used the same ones numerous times witho...

Re: Flat Area Clearance going too deep.

Thank you Adrian. I'm going to revisit things from scratch because I have a new Z axis (fully calibrated) that gives me a lot of room to move it so it's not topping out. That used to be an issue though when the original Z axis was mounted on the machine. I painstakingly went through the mounting and...

Re: Flat Area Clearance going too deep.

I see what you mean mtylerfl. I have made the change to 0.2 depth in my tool setting for this project but I don't know if that makes any difference either. Adrian, Yes. X,Y and Z 0 is set in the lower left corner. After it's been physically set, I set "work Piece" 0 at that location. While I'm think...

Flat Area Clearance going too deep.

Could someone please look at my .CRV file and see why when I start with job No. 1, the file called VCarve [Pocket] using a .125 end mill, the bit drills in about .4 inches and then lifts out and begins the clearance at proper depth until complete in that area. Then it went to the next area to clean ...
