Re: Z-Axis Probe (Plans)
Interested in this. Thanks for posting the probe design. I found the following links to auto-probing routines from the Probotix wiki page. Biased towards LinuxCNC and Mach3 but could be useful...I see G-code ripper in the list also. Probing G-code Routines: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.6/html/gcode/gc...

Re: V-bit v Engraving bit
Nit sure this is reason for the skipped areas but just a quick look at the Edit Tool setup I see the included angle is full angle for V Bit and for engraving bit they define the half angle. You have 30deg set for both. Are your bits both 30deg full angle?

Re: 3D modeling - blending components
Thanks for the responses. I dont have a specific drawing to post as it was only a thought. Steven mentioned the automatic transition fillet between two different shaped objects which is basically what I was wondering about, but now I realize the modeling tools especially extrude and 2 rail sweep are...

3D modeling - blending components
Is there a software option in Aspire to smooth or blend the intersection between two 3d components? For example, where a cylinder intersects with a dome - instead of a discrete merge can the cylinder and dome be set to 'flow' into each other smoothly without modeling this as a third component and in...

Re: Tiling WITH 2-sided machining
Mitch, I have never done tiling but thinking this through with tiling and 2-sided dowel method it seems the maximum spacing between your dowels (in the direction of tile moves) can be half the overall gantry travel distance. This way you always have dowels accurately positioned at the extents for ea...

Re: Anyone doing epoxy inlays successfully?
Thickener may be useful where the inlay is on a sloped/curved surface to try and control for any liquid runs outside of the machined areas.

Re: Anyone doing epoxy inlays successfully?
Would like to try epoxy inlays in a guitar fretboard but have no inlay experience. I have used epoxy in other projects.
Apart from the pigment, is there a reason I see folks are adding other powders to the mix? Is this just to thicken the epoxy mix prior to application?
Thanks,
Scott

Re: Slice a Double Sided Model
Thanks Gary. I was playing with the slice tool also...Your approach is the solution I need - to export each slice into it's own new Aspire file for double sided machining. My mistake was trying to accomplish everything in the original Aspire file which had the full model STL import. Maybe there is s...

Re: Slice a Double Sided Model
Apart from the Netfabb link did you find out any more on slicing a double sided project? I cant find any Vectric tutorials specific to it. Would be very useful to have especially for certain 3d models which need to be sliced (for whatever reason - cnc machine z height limitation etc) AND each slice ...

Re: moulding toolpath help
Try adding a boundary offset of half the bit diameter. Should allow the bit to travel further out and lower down to get the full curve machined.
