Re: Copy and resize to exact shape

Yes, that is it! Amazing what you forget when you don't use it for so long.

Thank you so much

Copy and resize to exact shape

Good Evening, I am trying to learn how to take a vector, copy it and resize it to fit inside a vector but with exact shape. I have searched but probably used wrong terminology. I have attached a CRV file from clip art to see if I can get the design I am looking for. I want the shape, although the I ...

Re: V Groove change to linear rails

Leo I understand what you are saying about fixing this machine. This would be a great plasma machine but, I have one now. AlanAndrews I like your ideas to fix it but I think it is time to consider a better built system. Will definitely consider your ideas though. Thanks for you valuable input. :D Gary

Re: V Groove change to linear rails

Leo,
Thanks for your insight.

I agree with what you are saying. I think the best thing is find something better and get a real machine.

Thanks

V Groove change to linear rails

I have a DIY router table that I have built. The gantry came from a not so reputable company here in Canada. I have V groove bearings on the Y axis and have too much movement in the Z axis. The attached photo shows the similar gantry. The suppoet plate that holds my router with the V wheels has flex...

Re: Change spoilboard?

I glue my spoil board down and then just glue a new one down when it's been resurfaced enough times to be down to the original surface again. Can you explain what glue you use for gluing sheets of mdf together? I want to try doing this and then I will put T tracks on and then put my new board on in...

Re: Tray and dish carve

"With all the above being said there are chip load charts, calculators, etc... that can be found that gives an operator a place to START his/her speed (rpms) and feed rates. These of course would need to be tailored/tweaked in each and every 'variable' circumstance." This is part of the problem. I c...

Re: Tray and dish carve

I decided i would like to try a tray project and bought a dish carving bit. 1" diameter, 1/4" radius and 5/8" high. I have searched and have come up empty. Can someone suggest a starting feed and speed. I cannot even find some information on chip loading to figure out somewhere to start. Been to a ...

Re: Tray and dish carve

OK, so I am thinking of using these for a start. 12000rpm, 30ipm and doc .125. As I have no chip load I am finding it very confusing to figure this out. I will start here and then adjust as needed. Being fairly new to this, I want to be on the safe side so I don't get hurt or damage my machine. Than...

Material recommendations

New at trying to do this project, having a blast learning V carving, now I am wanting to try cutting some thin material for a project for my grandson. See picture below. This file was purchased awhile ago when I was cutting with a plasma cutter. The file says to use1/16", 1/8", 1/4" or up to 1/2" wo...
