Re: Cribbage players

I am a retired USAF serviceman and live with my English wife in the UK. There are alot of cribbage teams here and most pubs have a team that meet at other pubs and locations to play against one another. Me I do not play, the only card game I ever got interested in was Pinochle, while on my remote to...

Re: Owl Gate

Thanks everyone for your comments. The wood is sapele and the owl was carved with the texture tool at different angles, depth of cuts and texturing parameters. The design is from several different modified bitmaps images. I did try some yellow poly carbonate for the eyes and the moon, but it was too...

Owl Gate

Needed to build a new gate and put up some new fencing as preparation for the arrival of a new cocker spaniel puppy. I often hear owls on the woodland that surrounds the football pitch that is in the old limestone pit behind my house, so that the addition of a vcarve owl on the gate would be appropr...

Plaque for a departed friend

A friend of mine and a regular to the local pub recently passed away very suddenly. So, some of his other friends requested that I make a plaque that can be placed in the pub to remember him. The photo is one of him and his son. The wood is maple from a log that someone gave me a few years back that...

Re: Tambour Box

Frank,

Thanks very much, looks like a project to do this winter. Might look to see if I can incorporate a way to hold remote controls above and then the little lady has a place for her phone and ipad mini right next to her; also somewhat protected from the Cocker Spaniel puppy:-

Re: Tambour Box

Very nice boxes, I have a question. Is the tambour lid attached to the back of the drawer so that it slides open as the drawer is opened, or are they completely separate? The reason I ask is that I have seen Pask Makes scrap wood challenge create a nice box that the top opens as the drawer is opened...

Proud New Les Paul Jr Guitar Owner

My son comes over to the UK from Texas once a year for 2 weeks and we spend a lot of time in my workshop, building things for him to take back. This year he wanted to make an electric guitar, he already owns several; but want one that we built together. Well the first attempt was a failure with the ...

Re: John Wayne quote circa 1932

I like the work. I guess I need to play around with the milk paints a little more. Costing..Most folks have no idea of the effort that it takes to make some items or the cost of hardwood; but sometimes it is not always the money. A smile,a very sincere thanks and admiration of your work goes a long ...

Very nice indeed. Will this sign be in a place protected from the elements? Just wondering about the printed artwork:-)

Very nice indeed. I can think of a couple of folks that will love that at Christmas. Is the 3D image from the Make and Design Site?

Re: Amazing Grace Engraving

Mark, That looks great. Hope to see a picture of the finished item when Michael and you complete your collaborated efforts. I know of a music teacher across the road from me that was once a nun and plays at all types of church events; some happy, some not. She is a very special lady and would love s...

Re: VCare Pro and Arduino/Grbl compatibility

I have an OX machine with the XPro controller; which is a GRBL controller. I use VCarve and save the tool path with the G Code Post Processor. I use the Universal Gcode Sender to send the code to the XPro CNC controller.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Re: The importance of starting

I totally agree with the learn as you go and in the great support that this and some other forums offer. Learning from mistakes is a natural process and if you actively do anything there will be some hiccups along the way; just hope none of them are the ones that will cause any personal injuries. Th...
