Re: Rotary Job Components "Invert"
Thanks so much! Zero planes.... I've never quite grasped these so will go review them. When I started having trouble I reviewed the 'Rotary Modeling a Spindle' tutorial and the zero plane is deleted in that tutorial without any explanation so I did the same. Bad assumption on my part. Again, I'll go...

Rotary Job Components "Invert"
Not sure how to explain what I'm seeing since it's so crazy. Using the latest Aspire 9.5, doing a rotary job. The 3D view looks good then, if I open the "material setup" under tool paths or the "job size and position" under "edit" the model will "invert" even if all I do is open the "job size and po...

Re: VCarve on Macbook
Taking this thread in a different direction .... I'm using Parallels on MBP and find it works quite well. One silly question, however. I'm using the trackpad rather than an external mouse and find the 2-finger drag to zoom in/out goes way too fast and I've not found the right adjustment. Not sure if...

Re: Tiling Option
Take a look at the generated G code. If you have 3 tiles you'll have T1_filename, T2_filename and T3_filename. Each file will be a separate job so will support multiple tools if your machine supports too changes. Take a look at the generated files; you'll see. Aligning the tiles is an interesting ch...

Re: Bevel the end of a part
This may be one of those cases where a table saw or some other conventional woodworking machine is faster. Something to consider. If the slope matches that of a V bit or of some other profile router bit/cutter you could do a very simple profile cut. Any chance you could create a jig to hold the boar...

Re: Bandsaw Selection
I have a Grizzly 17" and am very happy with it. It handles all tasks, including resaw, very well. I have been impressed with Laguna machines as well and own a couple. Leo lays out what are really important features on any saw -- cast iron wheels, trunnions and tables. Heavy. Strong. Avoid vibration ...

Re: Profile Bit
It does if your spindle has the horsepower to drive it, your machine is rigid enough and your steppers/servos can push it at that speed. That would be right around where I would drive a bit like that day in day out. Running it slower will lead to higher temperatures and shorter bit life. However, i...

Re: Profile Bit
so.... I'm curious if I'm interpreting the Onsrund data correctly. Arbitrarily choosing a 57-200 series 1/2 bit, looks like the chip load should be .008, depth 1/2", feed rate 240 ipm and rpm 15000. (.008 = 240 / (15000 x 2) ). Does that seem reasonable? I've been using a much slower feed rate (norm...

Re: Moulding Toolpath Error Message
Your molding profile is probably to fit (twice) in that narrow section of your rail. Not sure as I don't see the molding profile in that screen shot.

Re: Can I modify a 2 Rail Sweep after the fact?
The rails don't go away unless you deleted them so you could delete the model created via the 2 rail sweeps and create new models. Or... .you could resize the model(s) created with 2 rails sweeps. Change the base height or model height. Use the resize tool to, well, resize the model. Some options th...

Re: A couple of small problems
You can run multiple copies of Aspire (assuming this is try of other Aspire programs) to have multiple Aspire windows open at once. I do it all the time.
Perhaps you have an old and a new version of Aspire/etc installed? I have 8.0 and 8.5 installed; perhaps you do too.

Re: Imported unwrapped/re-wrapped issue
My experience with wrapped jobs matches your's. It can be a useful way to cut round-ish parts, but the flat surfaces are not square and the process is slow. I've watched your video on 2-sided milling of table legs and used that process to create back slats for a chair. I'm still refining the process...
