Re: Parking instead of homing

On the bottom of Material Setup on the Toolpaths tab, there's a place to specify the Home/Start position.
Try setting it to your Parking location instead of the default 0/0,

Re: Can Vcarve create a project description file

Would a job sheet (next to the "Save Toolpath" button) work?
It's got a list of toolpaths including tool info with feeds & speeds in order.
It also includes material size and datum position.

Re: Creating Oval type compartment

Use the Moulding Toolpath.
You'll need two vectors: a drive rail along one of the long edges of a barrel, and a profile vector that's the cross section of the barrel.
Reverse the direction of the drive rail vector if the barrel cuts on the wrong side of the vector.

Re: Zank inlay - Trouble with the plug toolpath

It wasn't the rounded part in the air gap that was bothering me, but the rounded edges at the bottom of the plug -- I thought the pocket was prismatic, with all flat, non-curved sides.
I just took a closer look at the pocket, and it's got the same curved sides, and matches the plug.

Color me

Zank inlay - Trouble with the plug toolpath

I'm trying to cut a star shaped plug for a Zank style inlay and having trouble with the toolpath. The inside corners of the top of the plug (or bottom of the plug when glued in) are getting rounded. Details: 60 degree vbit 0.25" plug depth 1/16" (0.0625) air gap between plug and pocket surfaces Glue...

Re: Two sided editing

I've been wondering the best way of doing this as well :?:
One way that comes to mind is move the vectors from one side to the other, shift everything, and then move back to the other side.
There's got to be a better way!

Re: Cutting Observations of a Newbie

This sounds like an issue with zeroing the different bits. If you're setting the Z manually, you might be zeroing the vbit a touch low. Also, try to zero the bits in the same XY spot on the material or spoilboard -- if the material or spoilboard isn't perfectly flat, zeroing in different XY location...

Re: Getting a smooth pocket in HDU

Could the HDU be flexing as it's cut?
What kind of bit -- upcut, downcut, ...?
How thick is the material?

Stacked/Layered Text with a V-Groove bit

Thinking about trying to make a stacked/layered text sign (as in the Stacked Text with Dan tutorial , but using a v-groove bit and v-carve toolpaths. The problem I can see is that when cutting the bottom layer, the top text is going to have to be bigger. I can try calculating how much bigger, and of...
