Using Flashcut CNC on metal lathe
I downloaded the post processor for Flashcut CNC and assumed that I wrap around the X axis. When I loaded the file (rounding gagdet), and then ran it I got 1,324 errors. It does not recognize the Y axis. Also, the way the machine is setup, the z axis goes the length of the lathe, the X axis is the a...

Metal lathe toolpath
I am trying to setup a metal lathe to be used with Aspire. It has a lathe tool post that you place your cutters in. I have a number of questions and I was wondering if anyone has already done this. One question for tooling, if the blade is triangular, how do you setup the tool? I'm going to try to t...

Re: Problem with molding toolpath
Yesterday, I did figure out what Steve suggested. I wanted to add something to prevent the bit from cutting the piece right off of the machine. Thanks for the help.

Problem with molding toolpath
I am slowly trying to learn Bob'sCNC Revolution. I got a piece of material to be round, now I want to make something usefull from it. The problem that I am having is trying to machine a mallet. I drew a figure and then I used the molding toolpath I made the mallet. The problem is where the router bu...

Re: Rough cut on rounding gadget
Steve
I downloaded your file. I you look at the simulation and rotate the piece of wood, there will be a straight line
going down your project. It's not a big deal as it can be sanded out. I was just wondering if there is a way to avoid it if possible.

Re: Rough cut on rounding gadget
That is what I had 1/16 inch or .0625 or 25%. I'll reduce it to .05 or 20% tomorrow.

Rough cut on rounding gadget
I used a 1/4 inch End Mill (got a rough cut), then a 1/4 inch ball nose while using the rounding gadget. With the 1/4 inch end mill with a 40% stepover I expected a rough cut. With the 1/4 inch ball nose I used a 25% stepover. (I expected a smoother cut). So is the stepover the problem or could it b...

Line in rounding gadget
I was running my 4th axis rounding gadget and noticed a line basically by where the a axis equals zero. Every time the router moved in the x axis direction, there was a line. I then checked Vectric's simulation which also showed a line. (The red arrow for the x axis highlights it!) Is this supposed ...

Toolpath Color
I was planning on trying to do an inlay. However, before doing the actual work, I was wondering if on the simulation, if I do a pocket cut, is it possible to have the Toolpath Color be the other material? For example, the material color is maple, the pocket toolpath color is black walnut. (Somehow c...

Re: V carve last pass
Thanks for the quick answers. Yes, I well aware of breaking tips. I have Aspire, but I was helping someone at my makerspace and the tools are set to make conservative cuts to min. problems. I will watch for that gadget and I'll give it a try when its available.

V carve last pass
When doing an object in Vcave, is there a "Do a separate last pass" as when you are doing a profile cut? I am doing something like a large V, I have a flat depth of 0.125 inches. I am using a 20 degree V bit. It steps 4 times to get to that depth. So the pass depth is about .03 inches. I know that I...

I just went back to gadgets, then to version 11 and reinstalled the ones that I was missing.
