Re: Candy Cane Ornaments done on my 4th axis
I used a ribbon tried with a square knot. There is a youtube video on Candy Cane Ornaments from As Wood Turns where he describes everything in great detail. I used that idea to make mine on the 4th axis. The big difference was drill the hole for the candy cane. He just had a drill bit and moved it i...

Candy Cane Ornaments done on my 4th axis
I just finished these 4 candy cane ornaments for my grandkids.
I basically did everything except for cutting the wood to size, drilling the hole for the string
and sanding, on my CNC machine and my 4th axis.

Re: Sometime file opens as Vcarve 10.0 not 10.5
I paid a little more attention when I tried to install another gadget. When I open the gadget after I download it, it installs on version 10.0.
How do I make it install on version 10.5?
Thank you.

Sometime file opens as Vcarve 10.0 not 10.5
It doesn't happen all the time. But like today, I installed the wrapping gadget and when I tried to open an existing file created in Vcarve Pro 10.5 it says that it can open it because Vcarve Pro 10.0 opened it. Somewhere I think that there is some sort of default that makes Vcarve open to 10 not 10...

Cut this snowman on my 4th axis
By using the design I found for making a snowman on a lathe. I used those dimensions to design my snowman using the molding toolpath. I also made a youtube video on how I designed it. It took a lot longer to make the video than I thought it would. I had no idea how much time, thinking, and redoing g...

Re: Does it matter what side of the 4th axis that you cut on?
If you are moving from headstock to tailstock, what side should you be on? I am hoping the left side so it will be simple to zero x and y.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Does it matter what side of the 4th axis that you cut on?
On my CNC's 4th axis I cut from the top; however, I was thinking of using some profile cutters that will cut from the side. So I was wondering if it matters on what side of the headstock you place the router on because of how the router is spinning?

Re: Tall ship and lighthouse
Hi, nice job, I also have that pattern. I haven't cut it out yet but I have one question and one comment. What bit did you use to do the finishing cut? I don't know if I should use a a tapered 1/8 inch bit or a tapered 1/16 inch bit. My comment is that I am going to use clipping to remove the pictur...
