Re: moulding toolpath error message

I downloaded v. 9.518. Had the same problem both with the profile in question and a similar one drawn in v. 9.015.

After tracing the original curve to produce a new version I was able to generate a moulding profile with a clearance tool and boundary offset. Still baffled but now it works.

Re: moulding toolpath error message

It appears that the error message is triggered by setting a machining allowance in the clearing toolpath. It's baffling because I have done a similar profile with a clearance toolpath and machining allowance recently. Must be something else different that I am not seeing. I will update to the latest...

Re: moulding toolpath error message

Sorry, here's the correct file. The first one you saw had the entire moulding shape including back bevels which I drew in the office, then I did further work on the shop computer, isolating the profile and adding a drive rail. I brought the file back to the office and was able to generate a clearanc...

moulding toolpath error message

I am trying to create a moulding toolpath with a straight drive rail and a simple crown profile. I am getting the message " toolpath not created- check there is enough space to fit entire profile across rail contour w/o overlapping itself". I have checked the profile for overlaps using the vector ch...

Re: Changing the position of starting point?

I had the same question. I changed the raster angle by 180 degrees and that worked.

Re: Vhipe super PID speed control

ger21, thanks for the response. The spindle upgrade sounds attractive, but I am not a circuithead and am not sure how easy it would be to adapt the 240V feed to my control box. I am pretty sure that retrofitting a spindle and controlling the speed through WINCNC is beyond me (the process was describ...

Vhipe super PID speed control

I recently became aware of this aftermarket speed controller and am considering putting one on my Camaster Stinger with a PC 7518 router. Has anyone used this in a similar application? Do you recommend it? Any pictures available?

Re: Arcs change to Bezier curves and segments

Thanks for the responses. Adrian, your observation about the node colors is helpful. Interestingly, in the file I posted, the curves that are identified as Beziers by the measure tool have black nodes. TReischl, do I understand you correctly to say if a bezier curve resulted from offsetting an arc i...

Re: Arcs change to Bezier curves and segments

Gary, You are right that the proof is in the cutting. I have not had any problems in the past cutting curves that nest together properly. I understand that cnc operations are point to point, and as long as the points are close enough together and the paths are smooth I will get a "close enough" (very...

Re: Arcs change to Bezier curves and segments

Thanks for the suggestions. I may draw these in Designcad as that allows for drawing parallel arcs without changing the geometry. In that program I can draw an arc with given endpoints and radius, offset it, and the resultant curve and any derivatives remain circular arcs with identifiable radii. Pla...

Arcs change to Bezier curves and segments

I am setting up to run a curved moulding in two concentric pieces. I need to cut out the pieces with concentric arcs prior to profiling. I drew the inside arc, offset the second, then offset the fourth (outside) from the first one ( and moved it), and offset the third curve from the fourth. Using th...

importing sketchup "curves"

]I imported a Sketchup model into 2D view using the Sketchup file import form with "create circles for polygons" selected. The "arc" came through as line segments. The last time I imported a Sketchup model for 3D machining with low segment count the same thing happened. When the circles were specifi...
