Re: Circles with slightly tapered sides/edges

Thanks ... I had thought about using a tapered end mill but dismissed it thinking the cost of these cutters would be too expensive
However a quick look on eBay and I have just found some that may do the job at quite a reasonable price.
I need to research these cutters a little more ... but thanks

Circles with slightly tapered sides/edges

Hi, I need to produce a series of circles with tapered sides./edges For the sake of argument 300mm circles cut from 20mm thick material with a 3 degree taper top to bottom. At this stage I have not attempted to cut any but at the design stage I am having difficulty... I have been attempting to use t...

Re: Special Characters

Michael
You solved my problem.... but I always like to learn a little something
If you have the time could you talk me through the alterative method you suggest?
I have been using my computer for years but I have still a lot to learn.

Re: Special Characters

Thanks Michael,
The "Two dot" idea really fits the bill!
Why didn't I think of that?

Re: Koru Fibonacci

For any that may wonder where I got the idea!
Resembling the unfurling frond of the native New Zealand fern, the koru depicts new beginnings, life and hope.

For the more mathematically Inclined

Hi, Whilst I was displaying my recent project "Koru Fibonacci" I did wonder how many member would like to see some of my other work. But pleased be warned do not attempt to reproduce these shapes unless you are quite certain of the mathematics involved and you know how to cut super accurate angles. ...

Re: More Koru Fibonacci

Thanks for your interest Good and very relevant question!! If I had slightly reduced the size of the model I could have machined it in one piece. My machine is fairly compact with a 400mm X 300mm X 110mm working area. I could have purchased a block of suitable material but, to be quite truthful, I w...

Koru Fibonacci

Hi Everybody, My latest creation This "Sculpture" made almost entirely with the aid of the Vectric software is based on the Maori "Koru" which has close links with the Italian mathematician Fibonacci The model stands just over 12 inches high and, believe it or not, is assembled from 80 individual pi...
