Re: Can I Run the X-Tool D1 PRO with V-Carve?

09-24-2023 Gosh, so much has happened! I added several D1 PRO lasers to my shop. then I bought the P2 with the risers and the track, etc. Recently I bought the new P1 with the slide tray and the rotary tool., and the air filter ... I am trying to find the time to actually USE these machines, but I a...

Re: Can I Run the X-Tool D1 PRO with V-Carve?

It was a fight, but I finally got it assembled with the frame extension installed. This is an awesome little laser machine with 390x900mm work area. It is a 20 Watt blue diode laser. I also have the rotary tool for it, to etch designs into round things like YETI cups, and baseball bats, etc. This la...

Re: Can I Run the X-Tool D1 PRO with V-Carve?

An ADD-ON laser module? Okay. I will check the site for this. I like to experiment with things, think outside of the box, and all of that. Yes, I have other laser software, and another program to run the laser, but both of those programs deal with a 2D image burned or etched onto a flat surface. I w...

Re: Can I Run the X-Tool D1 PRO with V-Carve?

You've been able to drive plasma and lasers with VCarve for years. You don't need to upgrade unless you want the two toolpaths that come with the laser module. It's just a matter of using the correct post processor for the setup you have. What am I missing? I see nothing in the software to deal wit...

Re: Can I Run the X-Tool D1 PRO with V-Carve?

My V-Carve is version 10.5. Do I have to move up to a more recent version to do this? I looked through the software and saw nothing to indicate a way to drive a laser.

Can I Run the X-Tool D1 PRO with V-Carve?

I am curious about this. I just bought the X-Tool D1 PRO 20 Watt blue diode laser machine. I did buy other laser software, and X-Tool offers a very basic and limited program for running the laser, but I am seeing talk about lasers here on the VECTRIC forum. That makes me wonder if V-Carve can be use...

Re: Vac Table Top Surface

I have built the base for the vac table out of oak planks on edge, with 1/2" plywood over the top. I will construct a frame on top of that which will create a cavity that the vac pump will suck the air out of. On top of that, a series of adjustable circular vents that can be individually opened or c...

Re: Vac Table Top Surface

Wow. Were these 3/4 MDF sheets modified (pressed surfaces removed?) or were they fresh out of Home Depot 3/4" MDF sheets? De-skinning 6 sheets (12 sides) of MDF seems like a really tedious job. That's 8 to 10 hours of my time I'd like to keep to myself. :D Just your average 1 lb per sq ft per 1/4" ...

Re: Vac Table Top Surface

So ... I don't know a thing about love ... er ... VACUUM PUMPS! I am looking at them on Amazon. Do they have duty cycles, or can I turn one on and leave it running unattended for five or ten hours at a time without worrying about fires and other disasters? Can you point me to a good pump? I prefer "...

Re: Vac Table Top Surface

I can't imagine trying to maintain suction over a 5x10 (50 sq. ft.) area simultaneously. I once had six sheets of 3/4" MDF temporarily stacked on our 5x9 machine (which already had a 3/4" spoilboard). For amusement's sake I turned on our 10HP Becker pump. The pump reasonable well still held down a ...

Re: Vac Table Top Surface

With a 5 x 12 you will need something like 20 hp of vacuum. Typically two 10 hp pumps. If they are regenerative pumps double the hp required. I recommend separating the table into zone with there own valves. The table is 5x10. I can't imagine trying to maintain suction over a 5x10 (50 sq. ft.) area...

Re: Vac Table Top Surface

I've been on the computer all night, playing with ideas. I think I have come up with a solution! I got the idea from the crawl space side vents around my home. I will start on this project very soon, and post photos (maybe) of the results.

Re: Vac Table Top Surface

A vacuum table can be great, or it can be a useless pain in the butt. Depends on what you are cutting, and the quality of your vacuum table. I find it really only works for full sheets. If you cut smaller pieces, it's typically useless, and you end up screwing the material down to the spoilboard an...

Re: Vac Table Top Surface

Thinking outside of the box ... WHAT IF I were to use thicker pegboard for the top surface. 1. Set material onto pegboard. 2. Turn on Vac System. 3. Hand scatter over remainder of pegboard with 3/8" plastic balls that settle into open holes and plug air loss. 4. Cut material. 5. Turn vac off....
