cutting only 180 degrees of the cylinder
Not sure if this can be done, but maybe one of the guru's in the forum has figured this out and can share for it to work with Aspire. I'd like to take a 3d model file, .STL, section off the front half, so now I have 180 degrees of the 360 model. This can be done with Aspire by cutting off everything...

Re: MACH3 Shaking and jittery on 3D relief cut
Brian, if you get this, finally came to a conclusion that pretty much solved the problem. "Dirt" I had enough build up from the rails and pinions wearing from initial brake in to cause the inability to take the slack/chatter out of the X axis. Being as the pinion needs to have almost "0" tolerance w...

Re: MACH3 Shaking and jittery on 3D relief cut
bbiehi, Can't private message you. My conversation with Legacy came to resetting the dip switches on the Stepper drivers. End result not much changed. One of the things I found is this, please change these setting at your own peril, I don't recommend it if you're not comfortable making changes. My M...

Re: MACH3 Shaking and jittery on 3D relief cut
bbiehl, I will send you a PM when I get their attention. They promo how fast it will cut. I would say the gantry should be stiff enough to handle 150 IPM. I also see many folks on this forum cutting at 150 and producing quality 3D pieces. I ran a straight code, Z at 0, Y stepping over .0125, and had...

Re: MACH3 Shaking and jittery on 3D relief cut
Again Thank you I don't have much hair left so pulling it out isn't the answer. I've tried every imaginable setting from your help and looking over videos on-line. If I could best describe this it would be like this: In a 3d image a simple arc from Z-1 to Z-1.5 over a 3 inch span traveling along the...

Re: MACH3 Shaking and jittery on 3D relief cut
Your speed question is interesting, What I hear you asking is: If I set the feed on the tool at say 50 IPM, does MACH3 try to run it at 80 IPM? I have a set buttons on my screen called "Increase/Decrease" Feed Rate with a area to input a new number called "Adjusted Feed". It never matches the "Feed ...

Re: MACH3 Shaking and jittery on 3D relief cut
Again, Thank you, Did all suggested, very little change in the end result, so I ask this question, If I run this across the "Y" axis, I get a perfect surface, a simple change in the G-code. The fact the the code really didn't change as all the X,Y,Z are all the same value, just the direction they ra...

Re: MACH3 Shaking and jittery on 3D relief cut
Update, haven't check back on the forum for a few days, got busy, and thank you for your input, Ran it with the MACH 2/3 Post Processor, same result, too the best of my knowledge "Node" is not an option on a 3d model, as it's all pixels. I did set the CV adjustments as per the last post, I don't hav...

MACH3 Shaking and jittery on 3D relief cut
I've searched the forum, but still can't find an answer that works with my CNC, I have a new Legacy Maverick Gen 2. I replaced an Axiom CNC Router that used the RichAuto controller, which didn't have any tweaks. I now have MACH3. While cutting a 3D relief roughing pass at 80 IPM, the spindle about c...

Weak Stepper Motor
I own a Axiom Precision 2X3 router, owned it since 2013, very few problems. 6 months ago, Doing a surface cut on a new project, 1.5 mill surface bit from Amanda Tools, running it at .03125 (never in a hurry) 100 IPM Started in the middle of the board, (offset climb) step over .40% Board size 23 inch...

Re: Uneven flat area around letters
Birch plywood, screwed to the table, .0313 cutting depth with the end depth of .125. This is the second cut of 4 but the first .0313 was exactly the same with the un-even flat surface. No noises, no vibrations. The more I read and think about this,I wonder if a ramp feed into the the wood would be a...

Re: Uneven flat area around letters
Thank you for the suggestions, The Axiom is pretty rigid and this happens when the bit is in a continuos loop around each letter moving farther and farther away as it enlarges the pocket. I will have to take note of whether the "Z" is resetting (Z up, move to a new location Z down) out that far whic...

Uneven flat area around letters
I'm looking for a solution to the slight uneven areas around the letters I'm cutting. Tried several bits, 2 flute, 4 flute, up and down cut but still get what you see. Currently as this is still cutting this is a .0625 4 flute flat mill, running 50 IPM with a step over of 30% with a cut depth of .03...
