Re: Reversing the process.

Thanks for the prompt reply, I'll look into "backplotters". I am well aware that it is a racing certainty that the fault is mine and that I am simply repeating the error. I was just looking for a way to find out that I had screwed up again without wasting wood. The file is on the PC out in the works...

Reversing the process.

Hi, Is there a means of taking a toolpath file and "reading" it such that you can see what it will produce before putting cutter to wood? Why? I have had a pair of toolpaths (rough and finish) produce a result in milled wood that is not the same as that shown in the "Preview Toolpath" option. Clearl...

Re: Hate the new "Last saved font" feature

Click on the font name at the top of your list, type the first letter or two of where you left off and it will take you there in the alphabetical list. No need to scroll.

Re: Gadgets V10

Gadgets did not migrate from 9.5 to 10.
It is possible to install (new) gadgets in 10 but the failure to migrate is annoying.

Re: Setting max depth on roughing pass

I do some deep 3D cutting up to 25mm. Your maximum depth is always going to be limited to the length of bit that extends from the spindle and the rigidity of same. In your question, having 28mm of a 2mm end mill extending from the collet will deflect easily. It is easy enough to set up a series of r...

Re: Help - Zeroing Finish Pass on 3D Piece

Yes. A piece of the same stock will do. There may be an error as a result of the original stock not being an exact thickness over the entire surface, but it should be small. This suggestion is on the basis that you have already begun the job and started the roughing cut. If not, set Z zero to the be...

Re: Help - Zeroing Finish Pass on 3D Piece

Scrap is fine, you can set Z zero ALONE anywhere on the bed. Replace the tool, jog X and Y over the scrap, jog Z down until it touches the surface, set Z zero- nothing else, then GOTO XYZ 0 and finish your plaque. The other solution (too late if you have started the roughing cut) is to set Z zero on...
