Re: Using Aspire surface modelling for 3D Printing

Thanks @Adrian, I believe I did select "Close with a flat plane". Maybe I 'm setting up my material sizes wrong, such as the material thickness. When using the supplied Vectric clipart, such as the brick texture, how should I be understanding the material thickness? How would I know what depth is th...

Re: Using Aspire surface modelling for 3D Printing

Thanks @garylmast, I have exported with "Close Back Face" but will need to explore it again, maybe I'm missing something. Impressive thin point of .003". Prints stick well to surface. Thanks @Mark, I wasn't aware there were choices of "Back Face of Triangulation", so I'm not sure what I selected, ne...

Re: Using Aspire surface modelling for 3D Printing

Thanks @Adrian, @SteveNelson46 I have used the clipart that @SteveNelson46 references as my wall texture for this project. I have exported the STL file with the details you referenced. Maybe I'm not setting up Aspire properly before I import the brick clipart. Did have some trouble getting the brick...

Using Aspire surface modelling for 3D Printing

Greetings to all, I have a 3d printing project that requires a brick surface texture on a vertical wall. I have not learned how to design a brick wall surface using other software so I thought I could design the texture in Aspire, with a narrow "Z" height, then print that Aspire design, then glue th...

Re: Change from mm to inches when exporting as STL

Thanks, @fixtureman.
I tried your procedure and that is what I need to do moving forward.
In Canada metric and imperial are both used, but I am from the old world, so I prefer imperial.

Re: Change from mm to inches when exporting as STL

Thanks again All, I was only using other software as a comparison. When I design in other software I export as a STL, I do not go thru the 3d print save function. From the saved STL I then load into the slicer program. What ever design units I choose, they come thru perfectly to be correctly uploade...

Re: Change from mm to inches when exporting as STL

Thanks to All, for the replies. I will re-read all your comments to make sure I understand the process. What was throwing me off is that I create inch models in other software, export as STL, and my slicer program recognizes that, no problem, no converting. If Aspires "exporting as STL" function pre...

Re: Change from mm to inches when exporting as STL

Thanks @garylmast, greatly appreciated for the quick reply. Very odd, I changed my material setup from inches to mm, then re-exported as STL, opened the new file up in my 3d printer slicer program and everything seems to be in the right proportions, all good. Printing will confirm this. So, why did ...

Change from mm to inches when exporting as STL

Greetings All, Did all the designing using inch dimensions. Verified. Exported project as STL. Opened up project in a 3d printer slicer program and discovered that the size has been reduced/changed because the project seems to be now in MM. How do I make sure that my project gets exported as an STL ...

Re: Using aspire 3d clipart for moulds.

Thanks Steve,
Changed the combine mode, it worked. Not sure how to add a zero plane so the material now moves to the top.

Re: Using aspire 3d clipart for moulds.

Michael, Thanks for the reminder. I make one-of-a-kind custom accessories & I believe that still falls in the quidelines. Anyway, when I make my own designs, in the positive relief, is there a way to flip all design aspects from the positive to the negative, when my design is complete, all in one go...

Using aspire 3d clipart for moulds.

Greetings to all, Is there a way to reverse the pre-defined toolpaths that are assigned to Aspire's 3d clipart so I can make a mould without having to re-draw everything in a negative plane? It is much easier to design something that represents the finished sculpture then just turn it inside out for...
