Officer Memorial
I was honored when asked to create this tribute to a fallen police officer. Learned a few things in the process too.

Re: help with LED sign
Simplest method might be to use a single line font and then do a profile 'on' toolpath using a .25" endmill.

Re: Simulate a laser cutting through a project
Are you trying to do this using the laser module? If so, I don't believe you can do it. Otherwise, you could create an endmill the diameter of your laser dot and then use a standard profile 'on' toolpath (setting your depth of cut to material thickness) to simulate cutting through your material. You...

Re: Sheriff badge wall art
Be aware that the cherry will darken with age. In about 5 years there will be little contrast between the lettering and the wood. Don't ask how I know this. Thanks Mike. I am aware that it will darken. Anybody with suggestions with a better wood (available in midwest US). My original thought was wa...

Sheriff badge wall art
First real attempt using cherry wood. Finished piece is 36" tall/1.75" thick, finish is natural (lacquer). Was extremely nervous knowing my supply of cherry was limited, so this was a one shot deal. 9-1/2 hour carve, used a 1/16" tapered ballnose on center medallion. This will hang in the county adm...

Re: Z-height change problem
Check to make sure your bit is not slipping in the collet. Honest John just had this same thing happen while running a file he has run many times and only happened when running an more aggressive toolpath.

Re: Need help with file
Update: What a big difference! Created model from pocket toolpaths using the maximum resolution in both toolpath quality and modeling resolution. Still had some jagged edges, but not as bad. Created a boundary vector from model to use for machining boundary and offset it inwards .002" to eliminate j...

Re: Need help with file
Adrian, I created the model from a toolpath preview, not sure if that makes a difference as to the quality. I had modeling resolution set at Very high x7 ( I know there are 2 higher ones available). My job size was set pretty close to the model size. I didn't even think about coping the model versus...

Need help with file
So I am trying to create a lake contour map to eventually fill with epoxy. I created the initial file using pocketing toolpaths using an .125" & .03125 endmill to get into all the crevices. That being said, some of the contours are almost an inch deep and I don't have a .01325 endmill capable of tha...
