Re: I already know the answer to this question, but I'll ask

I use a MacBook, thank you. I divided my hard drive and run windows 10 in bootcamp. My mac is more expensive, but I've never had one issue with windows on it, works better than any Dell I've had (don't get me started) Inches. mm are for guys who wear the sweaters tied around their shoulders. Confusi...

Re: VCarve on Macbook

I use bootcamp, much better.

I bought a top of the line Dell, which died after a year, so now I run windows on a mac.

Go figure.

Re: 5 hp or 10 hp spindle?

I have had both. I started with a 5HP HSD on a 4x8 FMT, then upgraded to an 11HP HSD on my 5x10 FMT. We cut solid hardwoods and plywoods. I was once told that it wouldn't be much difference for my usage and was advised to go with the 5HP. I now see a big difference, the 11HP cuts so much better. Edg...

Re: Laguna Swift Router

Assembled in the USA then :) I agree, good parts come from all over the world, is there even an American made spindle? Not sure on that. As Leo said the CS is what will really matter in the end. My suggestion to go with a machine assemble in the US is primarily based on this, especially at this pric...

Re: Laguna Swift Router

I've heard not great things about them from a few different people, sorry. Machine issues and poor customer service. Basically, a lot of their machines are re branded. They are made in China or Taiwan, which doesn't necessarily mean poorly (I have a planer/sander made in Taiwan that is freakin aweso...

Re: Shopbot Buddy or CAMaster Stinger1??

I would always go with a fixed table design. More accurate and better fixturing options.
Can always make a vacuum hold down too.

Is this possible in Aspire

Hi,

Got an interesting project, a sculpted wall broken into 40 pieces of 8/4 walnut. All pieces are different and 2 sided machining is needed.
I want to mill the material to thickness before cncing and only do the ramps with 3d the profile in 2d.

File attached - any ideas would be wonderful.

Pocketing Lead in and out

I have a project where a client wants pocketed handles 1" high x 5" wide - .375" deep in .75" Maple. he wants the inside of the pocket angled for grip. My idea is to use a dovetail bit after cleaning out the pocket first. So I choose pocket - offset - single pass. This plunges in the center, will gi...

Re: File Folder

Thanks, I think.
I asked a lazy question. When I save files, or look for existing, it defaults to my documents. I keep all my files on onedrive, so I can post to my cnc from anywhere.
Just wondering how to make that folder my default.

I'm a mac guy, just use PC for vcarve pro and other software.

Awesome advice - wish I could do all of those.

My advice - stay away from 3D if you can. Bidding takes so long not to get the job!

Re: New router what to get?

Lot of Camaster lovers here! I have an FMT Patriot 4x8 with atc. It's been fantastic, very easy to use and has an industrial controller, so lots of physical buttons etc to use while machine is running, easier than a mouse IMHO. I looked at the main players in this price point - CM, SS, TCNC, and set...

Re: add on software

I just got other software - it's fantastic, really recommend it, little learning curve, and you'll need to buy training, but well worth it in the long run (depending how many cabinets you build). I believe that they have a free trial, would work with no tc but will take a long time. You would want t...
