Re: pricing
This is a great discussion. I am retired, and use my CNC machines for extra income. I generally figure $50 per hour. When doing large jobs of multiple pieces, it helps me having 2 machines running at the same time. Also doing some of the sanding while the next piece is running helps maximize my time...

Re: shopbot inch.*sbp
Yes sir it did. I searched on here and couldn't find it. But a search on Yahoo found that thread a few minutes ago. I believe that will solve the problem. I will find out tomorrow when I can go to the shop. Thanks for your help.

shopbot inch.*sbp
We are working with an older ShopBot. This post processor( shopbot inch.*sbp) was available in earlier versions of VCarve Pro. When software was upgraded to 10.5, this post processor is not available. Can it be added?
Thanks to all.

Re: ShopBot Help
Took the tech 1 minute to tell him to put a minus sign in front of the 'y' unit value. It now cuts as it should. I'm confused. Isn't that another way of saying the steppers are wired backwards? Go figger. :D I don't know. When the seller brought it to my friend, I don't think he disconnected any of...

Re: ShopBot Help
If it is the machine cutting mirrored, that is , if you are telling it to move left and it is going right, you may have to put a minus sign in front of the unit values Bob The machine was moving correctly, just cutting a mirrored (upside down) image. If I understand everything correctly, this is th...

Re: ShopBot Help
Thanks for all replies. The open ends of the Shopbot are not the front and back. They are the left and right hand sides. The X axis is the 8' the 4' gantry is the Y axis and the XY zero should be the bottom left when standing at the front. Not sure if that's the issue or not but I can't see how it c...

Re: ShopBot Help
Thank you for your reply. He (we) may be using the wrong terms. As he explained to me, using the example of doing inlays. While doing the drawing, after drawing the desired image, the toolpath is calculated for the female part of the inlay. A mirror image is then created for the male part of the inl...

ShopBot Help
Good evening. I'm trying to help a friend. He just purchased a used 4x8 Shopbot. He uses VCarve (8.?) that came with his Shark HD3. He attempted his first cut on the Shopbot this evening. He drew his design, and picked shopbot tc (inch) for his postprocessor. The drawing and preview look fine. The p...

Re: Open Vectors Issue.
I recommend that you toss out the bitmap and create your own text. That trace it awful. It's very ragged. Here's what I suggest: All you need to do is assemble a list of your own fonts. If you want to use their example, that's great. Any font you install in your PC can be used in Vcarve. Look up 'f...

Thanks to Vectric and others
Hey folks, As we close out a difficult year, I want to thank the Vectric staff for this forum. It is a tremendous source of information. While I may not post a lot, I look at it several times a day and learn much from the more experienced users. I think one could find the answer to any question or p...

Or, if it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer.

Re: Tiling Set Up
On my tiling projects, I used the bottom left corner as my zero. I was cutting a sign(s) that were longer than my work area. Measuring the workpiece carefully, I was able to slide the material down the Y axis with no problem.

Re: Tool starts cutting at XY Datum
Steve is correct. Every time this has happened to me, it is because of the reason he stated. I have not zeroed the spindle correctly. My CNC does not always do what I want it to do. But it always does what I have programmed it to do.
