Re: Profile Cut cutting through the material and onto the Spoilboard
Hello, I only read through this thread quickly but one thing that comes to mind for people using Mach3 is to regenerate the toolpath after you have made changes or set your Z zero. I normally will use a 1" block and set my Z at 1" and then input 1.000 into the field for the Z after I have set it to ...

Re: Building a DIY 5th axis ...ideas, plans etc.
Hello, It seems this guy metalworkz also known as Wes(me) has dropped the ball since the last post although he has updated and improved the large format machine with a high speed spindle water cooled and been using it to cave custom Adirondack style chairs of my own design as well as rocking chairs....

Re: Custom Adirondak type chair
Nice! I like the lumbar curve on the backs and have contemplated adding that to the chairs I make but don't think the time spent will be appropriately compensated.

Re: Custom Adirondak type chair
I got the chair stained so here is a pic after stained. There are some minor areas needing attention still but closer to finished.

Re: Custom Adirondak type chair
Thanks guys for the input and suggestions! I had added the rear foot as an attempt to adjust the angle of the chair, and as is they do not really offer very much adjustment. I'm still making these chairs and always looking to improve them as well as include more CNC carving on them. I have already b...

Custom Adirondak type chair
Hello. I have been making some custom Adirondack style wood chairs for about 6 months now and this is my last attempt at creating something just a little more custom than your regular plain wood chair. I have posted some of these chairs in my machine build thread but perhaps I have overloaded that t...

Re: Mid sized CNC router/mill using VcarvePro 48" x 48"
Hello,
Well I got another request for a 49ers fan chair(I believe the team is doing very well this season) and I just stained it yesterday. Here is a picture of the current chair. Other design
ideas are in the works like making these fold down chairs, but the design is not complete yet.

Re: Rack and Pinion and changing horses in mid stream
I kind of agree with Gedward in that I feel ballscrews are probably going to be more easily adapted to your current system than the rack and pinion drives. I went with rack and pinion on my mid sized CNC router build but that was mostly because I had a source for the racks with a very long assembled...

Re: Mid sized CNC router/mill using VcarvePro 48" x 48"
Thanks BigC, I am making these as custom designs as the requests are made, and the lightning bolt chair is next in line. I have tried to make this design so that the same frame will accept different designed backs so perhaps the same chair can become seasonal for sports fans etc. and even just perso...

Re: Mid sized CNC router/mill using VcarvePro 48" x 48"
Just a couple of pics to update items posted earlier. The treble clef is stained ebony with clear and it is a guitar wall hanger. The hanger itself pivots to allow the guitar to hang at a natural plumb and hopefully put less stress on the neck that way as well as to make it easier to mount and remov...

Re: Mid sized CNC router/mill using VcarvePro 48" x 48"
Hello all, it has been a while since I did many posts or was very active on the forums. I would just like to update this thread about the mid sized CNC router I have made and some of the things I have been doing with it and my wood working hobby. I have been busy making ranch tables, ranch style ben...

Re: Trace Bitmap Help
A lot of good advice given here and yes getting good vectors to work with when tracing for me has always been a tedious and time consuming job. For mos things I want to trace it will require me importing the image and then manually tracing over the image with the drawing tools to create good vectors...

Re: Best Practices for work areas that are larger than the C
Aside from the tiling option which is a great tool and works very wel, you can also just re-position your work on the machine as needed to cut the entire surface. Either way you will need enough throat depth or clearance on the machine so that the material will not jam on the machine frame etc. If y...
