Re: DXF Import Vectors Will Not Join
The DXF was from the client, I did not draw it. I ended up simply deleting all duplicate vectors, then deleting all straight lines and redrawing them manually. I was able to get the toolpaths I needed, send the preview back to the client, and I got the job. Thanks to all that helped, I was about to ...

Re: DXF Import Vectors Will Not Join
There are some duplicate vectors but not all of them. I have deleted the extras and they still won't join. Can anyone import this file and see if they can make one profile vector?

DXF Import Vectors Will Not Join
I am working on a file from a client and when I import the DXF into Aspire, the vectors that make up the outline will not join. Some of them I can join together by moving endpoints to a common point but other will not. Choosing all open vectors and joining them will not work either. It's like even t...

Re: 3D finish creating flat spots using offset.
I'm good!! It irritates me beyond belief  that I can't run a file in offset, but if it wont work, it won't work, at least for this job. I ran another sample today with everything slowed way down and it was the worst yet. It's going to take a while but if I can get the quality in the photo runn...

Re: 3D finish creating flat spots using offset.
Completely reasonable Chris, sorry man, just a frustrating day. Watching that little 1/8" ballnose bit sweep across those curves and cut a perfect molding profile was a thing of beauty. It just a bit irritating that it can do such an awesome job running a toolpath in a manner that one should never c...

Re: 3D finish creating flat spots using offset.
Help me understand this. Cutting that profile across the grain contains what must be a huge amount of z changes in only 3 1/2 inches, over and over again with a 10% stepover and a 1/8" bit and it came out PERFECT, except for all the cross grain fuzz. So if my maching is capable of doing this, how ca...

Re: 3D finish creating flat spots using offset.
I went over the entire machine today and everything seems to be in place and correct. I went into my VR settings and changed the 3D ramping setting from 100 to 50, changed the 3D finishing toolpath from 2ips to 1ips on the plunge, left the x/y speed at 3ips. The two largest curves came out better, t...

Re: 3D finish creating flat spots using offset.
For the sample pieces in the photos, I did one offset and one raster with the grain. For the actual molding that I need to run, I wanted to run in offset so the bit would follow the curve of the molding. If I raster these moldings, regardless of angle, some will be with the grain, some will be cross...

Re: 3D finish creating flat spots using offset.
Yes, I did a roughing toolpath with a 1/2" ballnose bit. The machine is less than 6 months old and probably only has 40 hours on it. I hope nothing is worn out yet but I will check everything to see if it is mechanical.

Re: 3D finish creating flat spots using offset.
The preview looks correct using raster or offset, nice smooth curves, no flat spots, just like the actual carving in raster mode. In offset mode, the actual carving does not match the preview.

Re: Confirmation Dialogue Boxes In Aspire
One more question, I got the PP transferred over to the Aspire data folder and it shows up in the list now but it is not with the other Shopbot post processors. The TC file is labeled "Shopbot" and the other files in Aspire are labeled "ShopBot". I know I'm being really picky but it would be nice if...

Re: Confirmation Dialogue Boxes In Aspire
In V-Carve it uses TC inches. So I assume the that TC stands for tool change and that is giving me these options. In Aspire, I am using arc inches to achieve smoother curves. If I were to copy the TC post processor from V-Carve to Aspire and output in that, would it work with 3D carvings?

Confirmation Dialogue Boxes In Aspire
I have been using V-Carve for several months now and I have just purchased Aspire. I have a ShopBot Buddy 48 CNC. When I run a file in V-Carve, after I hit start I get a dialogue box that asks me if the correct # bit is in the collet. After this, I get another asking me if the bit has been zeroed. L...
