Re: Which Tutorial(s) for Progressively Deeper Pocket?
Paul, I really like the sound of that. I'll now continue on looking at tutorials that will help me fine tune the process. I have a Shopbot Buddy alpha with an 8' powerstick (moving table) and plan to build a narrow (18"+/-) table specifically for running lumber and such. I'll look into integrating t...

Re: Which Tutorial(s) for Progressively Deeper Pocket?
How do you want to handle the bottom of the cut between the B and C sections? Does it have to be a sharp inside angle as drawn (difficult) or is a rounded inside corner acceptable? Is it important that D and C be the same toolpath? It looks like D would be best cut with an end mill (flat bottom, 3 ...

Re: Which Tutorial(s) for Progressively Deeper Pocket?
Ah, got it to upload this time. I had a question mark in the file name. There could be a fairly large number of these so cycle time is important, which is why I'm wondering about staying away from 3D tollbooths. The drawing is only representative of the concept and not to scale. The material would b...

Re: Which Tutorial(s) for Progressively Deeper Pocket?
Hi, I've been trying to add a graphic representation but I get the message that .jpg, .jpeg and .pdf a invalid file names so not sure what that's about. There could be a large number of these so cycle time is important. The finish is not furniture grade but I'd like the ramped portion to be without ...

Re: Which Tutorial(s) for Progressively Deeper Pocket?
Thanks much for getting back Angie and Steve. Yes Steve, that's the idea of what I want to do with the main difference being that there would be a continuous ramp rather than the four steps. The top surface of the "fish" in my case would often simply be the flat top surface of the material with no 3...

Which Tutorial(s) for Progressively Deeper Pocket?
Hi, I'm in the very early stages of the learning curve using the Aspire tutorials. I have a project in mind and would like to learn how to cut progressively deepening pockets, whether below or sometimes around a raised element. Is it possible to do this without resorting to slower 3D strategies? Can...

Re: Will Older Version Files Open in 4.5?
Thanks much Leo. I'll maybe see if I can get specifics from Vectric. With the growing number of small format cnc's using Vectric programs I'm thinking that it might be worth it to offer local larger format cutting services for these peoples occasional larger size needs. I don't want to waste their t...

Will Older Version Files Open in 4.5?
I did a search but on reading the posts admit to getting confused between backward, downward, forward and cross-program compatibility  I have a licensed/registered copy of Aspire 4.5 and am wondering the following: - if I can use 4.5 to open files made with older versions of Aspire and if yes ...

Sawatzky's CNC Routing Textures in Aspire?
Just wondering if anyone is using (Dan) Sawatzky's Imagination Corporation CNC Routing Textures with Aspire and about the process and limitations, being that they're bitmaps. I'm very much on the front end of the learning curve on this.

Re: Simple Way to Change Aspire X/Y Axes Default?
Thanks much gentlemen. I'm going to be back in the shop in a couple of days so will take some screenshots so that I can explain things more clearly. Yes, I am aware that Shopbot calls the side of the machine the front - that is likely part of what throws me off still. The biggest problem though is h...

Simple Way to Change Aspire X/Y Axes Default?
Hi, I use Aspire on a Shopbot Buddy. Not being a frequent user I don'tt like to tinker with settings if I can help it so do my drawings in the Aspire default settings. I may not be explaining this quite right but what's happening is the X/Y axes as drawn in Aspire end up as Y/X when we tool path for...

Re: Toughest, Owner Repairable, Exterior Hardwood Finish
Thanks much for that. I will look for sure. Since yesterday, I've been trying to figure out the Sikkens Interlux thing and am getting quite confused over it as they don't clarify the relationship or whether it is a case of two different product lines. It seems that Sikkens also bought ICI a couple o...
