Re: Perspective Model View
That's true, good point however you cannot see the various tool paths in that view, should you want to check each one to check on the depth of cut etc. It is a work around for now though. Being a cad person and machinist I prefer to work in the 3D environment, it just makes more sense to me. And whe...

Re: Perspective Model View
When you view the model from the top, you should only see a single tool path - if the other tool paths follow the exact same profile. That way you KNOW that all tool paths are cutting the same. If there is an additional line showing then that is evidence that perhaps that particular tool path is off...

Re: Perspective Model View
Ok, so how long is it going to take to get some response from Vectric about their Perspective Views? When I look at the top view of a model where I am looking down on the tool paths, I expect, and want to see only 1 toolpath, whether this is a single pass or 20 passes I only want to see 1 freaking l...

Re: laser rotary engraving
I'm not sure if there is any documentation or not, but I assume there might be as 'Light burn' has been around for some time. I think though that for $40 US, it's just easiest to purchase the software and get on with life. I've upgrade my Aspire to include the Laser package, which I will use eventua...

Re: laser rotary engraving
Ok, so yet another question with regards to rotary laser engraving. I have recently purchased an Ortur 20W laser machine. This machine runs the GRBL software as do many other desktop machines. My question is regarding the use of the Rotary Accessory for this machine. Most users are running 'other la...

Re: laser rotary engraving
Ok, that's great. I figured there must be a simple way to do that. Thanks for the reply. I actually remember seeing that option now that you mention it but I didnt investigate further as I havent really needed that option before, but I'll likely do a lot more now. I'm still waiting on delivery of th...

laser rotary engraving
With the new laser module in Aspire, as cool as this feature is, is there any way to apply an image, most likely a dxf file, but perhaps a photo, onto a curved surface and then engrave it with the laser module? I have recently purchased a 20W laser setup (not delivered yet) but it also includes a ro...

Re: Next Wave Commemorative Chess Pieces
Mike, you might want to look at High Density EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) also. It's fairly inexpensive and very easy to cut. It cuts really well with a single flute cutter on cnc. High Density Expanded Polystyrene is basically the same as Styrofoam SM, except that the Polystyrene is available in even...

Perspective Model View
For several updates now, Vectric has given us a Perspective view of our model. When the model is viewed from the top view there is NO need to have or use a perspective view. The amount of perspective taper they use is even unrealistic. In reality for something that is only 1/4" thick, how much taper...

My First Lithopane
Here is a photo of my first Lithopane. This was done using PhotoVcarve and Aspire. I would have used just Aspire but I didnt have the original image any longer, as this has been a back burner project for about 5 years now. This is a birthday gift for my account's surprise 70th. He really likes handm...

Re: Editing G-Code File
I have a small light duty Chinese rotary setup now (4" chuck) but I haven't bothered to use it for rotary work, mostly because it didn't do what I wanted so I have just steered away from that stuff. It's all setup ready to go but I just haven's had much need. However I also have machined the compone...

Re: Editing G-Code File
I agree with your idea about asking Vectric to spend time on developing full rotary machining. That would be nice to have. It would save some time in machining and ultimately produce better results.

Re: Editing G-Code File
All good comments guys. What I was getting at was to have the ability to manually tweak the machine code to optimize the tool path, to save run time. I agree that the machine code that Vectric generates is rock solid, but it is just that it would be nice to be able to optimize it within Aspire - whe...

Editing G-Code File
I have a product request to suggest that would be great to have added. After having calculated a tool path in Aspire, it would be nice to have a button to select that would open up that text file for potential editing - without exiting Aspire. In many instances I create a g-code file that usually en...

Re: Vcarve Inlays not Locking?
Unfortunately I do not, at least using the dial indicator. However one process that can be used would be to cut a square hole, then cut a square insert to fit the hole, much as if you were making an inlay, but dont use the inlay process, just cut the 2 parts. then take the insert piece and flip it o...
