My First Lithopane

Here is a photo of my first Lithopane. This was done using PhotoVcarve and Aspire. I would have used just Aspire but I didnt have the original image any longer, as this has been a back burner project for about 5 years now. This is a birthday gift for my account's surprise 70th. He really likes handm...

Re: Editing G-Code File

I have a small light duty Chinese rotary setup now (4" chuck) but I haven't bothered to use it for rotary work, mostly because it didn't do what I wanted so I have just steered away from that stuff. It's all setup ready to go but I just haven's had much need. However I also have machined the compone...

Re: Editing G-Code File

I agree with your idea about asking Vectric to spend time on developing full rotary machining. That would be nice to have. It would save some time in machining and ultimately produce better results.

Re: Editing G-Code File

All good comments guys. What I was getting at was to have the ability to manually tweak the machine code to optimize the tool path, to save run time. I agree that the machine code that Vectric generates is rock solid, but it is just that it would be nice to be able to optimize it within Aspire - whe...

Editing G-Code File

I have a product request to suggest that would be great to have added. After having calculated a tool path in Aspire, it would be nice to have a button to select that would open up that text file for potential editing - without exiting Aspire. In many instances I create a g-code file that usually en...

Re: Vcarve Inlays not Locking?

Unfortunately I do not, at least using the dial indicator. However one process that can be used would be to cut a square hole, then cut a square insert to fit the hole, much as if you were making an inlay, but dont use the inlay process, just cut the 2 parts. then take the insert piece and flip it o...

Re: Vcarve Inlays not Locking?

Jackson, I havent read all your posts, however if you are cutting circles and squares etc to try to calibrate your machine you are totally wasting your time. I am a machinist and I have built a few cnc machines - all running Mach 3. Assuming that you know the process of using Mach 3 to calibrate you...

Re: Better material

Another thought for material like MDF (I am not familiar with HDU - we dont see that in Canada under that name. However for mdf one solution you can try is to get some 'wood hardener'. Such a product is available from Min Wax. this is actually designed to be used on semi rotten, or soft corky type o...

Re: Cut Glass

On the website for 2L Inc,..... http://www.2linc.com/engraving_software ... _fonts.htm They offer for sale, a set of single line fonts of various designs. You can purchase one or all as a set. I have all their fonts now and they make a super nice font for engraving where you only want to use a speci...

Re: New place to fine cool art

Ya, for sure.... the latest craze for adult colouring books gives rise to a ton of really cool designs that would be great for engraving or vcarving.

Re: Cut Glass

One good source for engraving tools etc is: http://www.2linc.com/engraving_software_single_line_stick_fonts.htm . they have diamond pointed tools and spring loaded engraving holders. I have purchased most of their tools at some time, they are good quality, but they are somewhat pricey. One error man...

Aspire 8 - Gadgets

I have noticed that some of the gadgets that are available for Aspire 4 are not available for Aspire 8. Will they soon be available on both platforms?

Thanks,

Re: vector start points

As an update to the vector start points blog that I started last year..... I just finished watching the 'what's new' video set for Aspire 8 - and I have also upgraded to Aspire 8 today as well. In these videos I see that they are using the 'set as a start point' with regards to changing the default ...
