Hi Tim,
Thank you so much - that explains it perfectly. As a sign business, 99% of the time we are pocketing the background and that was what was confusing me.
Regards,
Graham

Re: Confused about offset
Thanks Tim,
Yes - that does answer the question. I guess I was confused in that when you create a regular pocket toolpath, it confines the bit entirely within the vector (no offset needed) Wonder why it doesn't do this with the textured pocket?

Confused about offset
Greeting! Using Aspire 2.5 and attempting a textured toolpath background using a ball nose bit. Not sure how to ask the question, but when creating a texture toolpath within a vector, does it use the edge (side) of the bit, or the centre of the bit? In other words, is the texture contained entirely ...

Import problems
Hi, This has just started to happen - I export an AI file (all vectors) from CorelDraw, and when I go to VC Pro to import it, it either hangs up or I get this: http://www.signsnsuch.com/images/Mungo_2.jpg I've imported vector AI files many, many times without problem, but this seems to have just sta...

Engraved nameplates on Rowmark material
Greetings all!
I want to experiment a bit making engraved nameplates and signs on Rowmark type (2 ply) material. Can anyone offer advice as to type of bit to use, feedrates, etc?
Many thanks
Graham

What type of wood?
Greetings all!
To my shame, I'm not really 'up' on different woods. So what would be your recommendation or suggestion for v-carving nice cottage/cabin signs - the type with a varnished surface finish and painted (infilled) v-carved letters?
GVP.

Forum color scheme?
Hi,
Is there a way to change the color scheme of the forum? On my Pc it appears largely black on dark grey which is pretty difficult to read. I tried changing the 'board style' in my profile but it doesn't seem to have any effect?

Newbie questions!
Hello, I'm getting to grips with V-Carve wizard and cnc routing in general! My first test cut has the tool scoring the top surface of the substrate - I notice in VCW the "Safe Z" is reading quite small 0.0394". How is this figure calculated, and is there a means to adjust it? Or if I'm on the wrong ...
