Re: LED Sign Help Needed
For coloured Acrylic, Use 5050 or 5060 LED strips. Ultra bright and can be sourced in USB (5v) versions and up to 24v Versions with transformers from the mains supply. Darker Acrylic needs more watts per foot to look good. Clear/Light tints of Acrylic you can use multi-colour LEDs with simple contro...

Re: Balancing/area gadget
This is a gadget I wrote for balancing clock hands. It can be used to determine the total area of an object and tell you how balanced the object is left-to-right. Usage is simple: Highlight the object to want to balance Rotate the object so it's balancing left-to-right Move the object so its pivot ...

Re: Tab Cutting Gadget
In most of the 4mm and 6mm thick MDF 2d items I cut I have a half depth tab or 4 on each part. Using a downcut 2mm diameter bit and ramped tabs I find the easiest way to remove them is with a chisel bit craft knife. For smaller items they just sit there as a downcut bit forces the debris from the cu...

Re: V Carve restriction on .stl file import in design !
Can you make 2 files? One to carve the horses heads, and one to carve the rope border? It's not really a restriction. It is a business decision to provide software with less capability for lower cost. You have the option to buy Aspire. If you read the documentation about what Vectric programs can d...

V Carve restriction on .stl file import in design !
Stunned ! Was asked by a friend to design a plaque with the rope border and 3 horse heads within for a gift to his wife. Used the .3vm rope border from within the package as the border, which was liked very much as it represented a lead rope, imported a lovely horse head which I purchased for a few ...

Re: load a photo with a border
I suggest that the original picture needs to be saved in a format that V Carve will recognise such as BMP, JPEG etc.
Then import the picture into V Carve directly then plan the cut in there

Re: Chanmge tool for same job, recalculate.. All goes wrong
Adrtian... Yup.. I have a 5mm and a 6mm cutter which measure within .01 of their proper sizes. I just can't fathom out why the jigsaw didn't work when I only changed the cutter diameter and then recalculated... Even saved the file as a different name just in case I had picked up the wrong one and ru...

Re: Chanmge tool for same job, recalculate.. All goes wrong
Hi Ms Wolffie... Same calculations on all designs which were different due to bit diameter change. They actually work on screen...but when cut are different.
When I go back to the 6mm design version they cut perfectly.
Use a 5mm bit, recalculate and they don't fit...

Re: Chanmge tool for same job, recalculate.. All goes wrong
Hmmmmm. There aren't any real inside "corners" only sweeping radius. Outside corners yes, but I can't fathom why a change in the tool diameter makes such a difference as the tool is only following a line/vectors which the program should realise and recalculate the difference in tool diamter to compe...

Chanmge tool for same job, recalculate.. All goes wrong
Ok, I design a pair of jigsaw pieces that fit together. They work perfectly in the program as I can overlap them to prove the point. Then, using a 6mm dia cutter I produce said design in 18mm thick MDF. Works fine. They fit together lovely and are exactly what I need. Have made dozens and dozens of ...

2 x Post Processors and adding into PhotoVCarve
Silly question really, but I have 2 cnc machines. One uses the extension .cnc or .tap, the other uses NCStudio .nc. both work in my VCarve latest version. Now I know that the PP's aren't all the same so can anyone suggest how to add or which to use as a PP for PhotoVCarve for either of these machine...
