The spindle will likely be an off-the shelf 2 1/4 HP router. So, all the controller has to do is move it around. Adding the Z-axis would require a controller replacement for sure, but for now I would be happy just to use Cut 2D for some simple through-cutting and pocketing at mechanically preset dep...

I would love to run WinCNC. Can I set it up to run the servo drives existing on the machine? Or would it be easier to swap everything out for a stepper system? I have an old Masterwood Speedy 207 CNC boring machine that I will be modifying with the addition of a spindle, for use as a hobby point to point machine.

I would love to use VCarve again, what are the chances of finding a Post Processor to make this machine work?
