Need lots of advice on carving stone.
Never carved stone before, but would like to try. Need some advice on the easiest stones to carve for best results, where the stones can be found, and the bits used for carving them. Also, how would an irregular stone attached firmly to the cnc bed. Are any precautions needed? Thats it for now. More...

How can I separate vectors for a "laser made" jigsaw puzzle easily?
I see many jigsaw puzzles made to be cut by a laser with virtually no distance between the cut lines. Is there a way I can separate all the vector "pieces" of the puzzle giving enough room for a drill bit instead of a laser to cut the outline of each "piece" without overlap? The only way I can think...

Can I see the "cut area" in the design view?
Still reorienting myself to using after a long while. Please correct me if i am wrong, but I seem to remember that after a toolpath was made and simulated in the 3d rotatable view, I was able to switch to the design tab and see the toolpath area lightly colored. Now when I do it, I will see arrows r...

How do I know which free projects will work with VCarve desktop?
Many of your Vectric free projects seem to be available for Aspire or VCarve pro.
Are there any available for VCarve desktop?
Thanks

Re: Single or double clamp for cnc spindle?
Thanks Ed. I kind of figured that.
Makes a lot of sense.
Personally I would want both clamps anyway.

Single or double clamp for cnc spindle?
20201010_090051.jpg Using my Shapeoko 2, the upper clamp blocks my Makita spindle from "adjusting downward" so I have to raise up the bed "extra height" for many pieces of wood so it will contact the spindle bit. (espcially if its a small length bit). If i remove the upper clamp and use only the lo...

What is a good color for the "sides" of a picture, carving or lettering?
I made a few various pics and lettering type fonts on light wood, pine and poplar. I finished the tops with various colors. I did nothing to the sides. What would be a good "neutral" color for the sides? Should I leave it just the wood grain and sand it, or apply a dark stain and sand smooth? Thanks K

Re: Where can I add a PhotoVCarve post processor?
I saved a test pvc file made in PhotoVCarve.
Imported the pvc file to VCarve desktop.
The process seems to work.
Thanks

Where can I add a PhotoVCarve post processor?
I haven't used PhotoVcarve in a long time. I have used the PhotoVCarve function in VCarve desktop10.5, but the PhotoVCarve program gives a little more flexiblity. My ShapeOko postprocessors for PhotoVCarve show up in the PhotoVCarve post processor directory, but they do not show up on the drop-down ...
