Re: Anybody ever make a rolling pin?
As stated by experts such as Russell above, yes it can be done. But in your example, why not buy a finished rolling pin and do the carving you want on that pin? Here's an example that I did a few years ago.

Re: Carving a 360 degree bust methods
What I did in these photos seems to be similar to what you are trying to do. These are all the same stl model. I took the solid model (stl) into a program called slic3r, which is used for 3d printing. You can slice your model to any thickness you want and then export those slices into your vectric s...

Re: Jack Lift Platform—Need help to build
I suggest that you're making this harder than it needs to be. You will need something supporting/guiding the ends of the board you are trying to lift as it will just wobble and tip if it is only on the one jack and nothing else. Take a look at one of my older posts and see what I did for basically t...

Here is a link to one of my posts from several years ago where Gary Campbell made the gear reduction/Stepper motor modification for my lathe.

Re: Setting cut depths when zeroing off bed
I always reference the bed of the machine. Saves having to reset z-zero all the time for different materials. If I have irregular material, then I set the material thickness to the thickest part of the material to make sure clearances work as expected. Once upon a time I would set to top or bottom ...

Re: Any guess what process created this ?
It is a process called Lichtenberg Fractal Wood Burning. Uses very high voltages and salt water sprayed onto the wood for better conduction. Lots of youtube videos and such about it. I have the setup, it produces as much or as little of that pattern as you want to do. Be careful, the voltages used c...

Re: Concrete Angel
Looks good. For the foam things I make, I use a vinyl flooring and carpet adhesive from Home Depot. Much cheaper, dries in a few hours. Have had some things together for at lest 5 years that have not come apart. I made some Chevy pistons and connecting rods, 8 feet tall, out of 5 pound white polysty...

Re: tinnitus
I'm 64 and have had it for about three years. I don't have much hearing loss but the tinnitus sure gets in the way of hearing. I got hearing aids and I either have music playing most all day or use a Beltone app called Tinnitus Calmer (I don't have the expensive Beltone aids, I got the really good d...

Re: Text machines backwards on rotary job
Your machine and your software aren't matching which way the rotary is turning. Either flip your job in your software or change your 4th axis to turn the other direction.
