JimmyD - you're da' man! Took the DXF file and very quickly generated a workable model. The DXF is good for us old timers that have yet to upgrade! Thanks again and Happy Holidays! Russ

Re: The late great Stan Lee
My grandson is also a giant fan and for Christmas we ordered the book listed below for him. It is 400 pages of full color art and stories of the history of the comic book genre. Well worth the money. "Solid carbide bits do a great job of cutting thru metal hold down clamps" You must use a better grade of bits than I use, mine always snap right off! LOL Russ

Re: Ballnose bit
I've used Beck tools for some period of time and they are VERY important to me. I am a model maker. I have a 48x96 ShopBot and make miniature things using his bits. My favorite go-to bit is a 1/16th tapered ballnose. The model shown is made from 1mm sintra and the coin shown is a US quarter for size...

Re: Tapered Ballnose Cutters
It just goes to show ya! You can teach an ol' dog new tricks! You folks were right all along, it is in my version(s). It doesn't look the same but all of the pertinent parameters are there. THANK YOU ALL, very much. Russ

Re: Tapered Ballnose Cutters
The reason I suggested the 'FORM' tool is it allows for the creator to input a 'line drawing' of the tools geometry and Aspire can then calculate the proper tool paths based on that outline. Russ

Re: Tapered Ballnose Cutters
That's a cool looking screen! I've had Aspire since 2008, ver 2, 3, 4, 4.5 and I've never seen that screen, it's pretty cool. My screen looks like this:

Re: Tapered Ballnose Cutters
"adding TAPERED cutters to the Aspire tool database" I know about selecting straight sided ball nose bits, that was not what the original request was, it was for a TAPERED ballnose bit insertion into the database. Russ

Re: Tapered Ballnose Cutters
As a lot of us on here I have NOT yet upgraded to 9 'YET'! LOL So in my antique Aspire version I don't have that option. I love this forum, so much help when ever we need it. Thanks for the reply. Russ

Re: Tapered Ballnose Cutters
I am by no means an expert but I think its as simple as 'drawing' the shape of the tip and slant and adding it to the 'tool list' under 'FORM TOOLS'. I have added all sorts of specialty bits using this method. Russ

Re: modeling help or advice
Couple of questions, what is the material, what are the dimensions (height, width), what is the thickness of the material? What will the piece be used for IE trivet? Russ
