Re: salt boxes

A year or so ago I made some like those for a lady that sells specialty salts. Unfortunately neither her salts or the containers sold well.

Re: Drag Vector

This is what I would expect to happen. This is Autocad, which acts the same as the other cad programs I use. All I did was drag the center mark on the bottom line, just like I did in Vcarve. The two nodes at the top of the angled lines stayed put as did the arc at the top of the shape. As far as the...

Re: Drag Vector

Can you post the file? Also: But more than one line arc or curve is not considered a vector by itself. Follow the link in my first reply. In other words a vector is any one of those, but more than one would be considered vector(s). Not correct. A single vector can consist of multiple lines, arcs, o...

Re: Drag Vector

From the VCarve help file: "Vectors are lines, arcs and curves which can be as simple as a straight line or can make up complex 2D designs." Re: 'dragging the bottom horizontal line' see the help file under "Interactive Handles" https://docs.vectric.com/docs/V9.5/VCarvePro/ENU/Help/VCarvePro.html C...

Re: Drag Vector

I do believe a vector is a single line
Capture.PNG
If I drag the bottom horizontal line, in most other programs it will only move that horizontal line, and the two angled ones attached to it. Here it moves the nodes on the top of the angled lines, which in turn distort the top shape.

Drag Vector

When you drag a vector on a closed shape, doesn't it seem like it should only affect the vector you are dragging, and the ones between it and the next node? I just goofed up a piece, because I had to move a vector, and didn't catch that it had screwed with the vectors on the opposite end of the shap...

Re: Flower of Life

Shortly after I posted this morning, my wife walked in and asked what I was doing. She immediately told me what I was doing wrong, since she works with these kinds of patterns all the time in quilting. I now have it arrayed with no overlapping lines, just need to trim to the outer circle.

Re: Flower of Life

The images I found weren't high enough quality apparently. The vector image I linked to wasn't accurate enough. So I was trying to draw it myself. I was mainly trying to use circular arrays but of course am ending up with all kinds of overlaps. Originally I was making it so the top came to a point a...

Flower of Life

I am trying to make a flower of life carving. Something along the lines of this https://all-free-download.com/free-vector/download/carlotheman-flower-of-life-symbol-clip-art_16823.html I want to Vcarve all the white area and leave the dark tall. I am probably approaching it all wrong, but short of d...

Re: Deep Vcarve Inlay

Thanks all for the replies. I did work on it some more and basically came up with the same thing as FixitMike. I am horrible with math, but can run 3D cad. I made a 3d Model of the star, then drew a line across it looking at it from the side, at a depth less than the cut height of the tool. I then m...

Deep Vcarve Inlay

I am trying to make a deep inlay using a 1/8" 30º V bit. Unfortunately I cut the pockets before I worked on the Inlay Cuts. Anyhow I am trying to do a Start Depth of .325 (I do multiple cuts to get there) and a Flat Depth of .075. I keep trying different setting but this is always the result star1.J...

Re: chipping

I dropped the feed clear down to 15 ipm after the hickory still didn't turn out. Decided I would rather let it spend the time than throw out more wood. I think I started out @12K rpm, but ended up moving the slider down to somewhere between 8 and 9 to get the bit to quit screaming.

Re: chipping

Well I tried again on the back side of that piece. I think it it birch, but admit I get mixed up on some of the species some times. Anyhow, I had to drop the rpm back down, my ears couldn't stand the screaming :? The cuts did turn out better, but still not great. At that point I gave up and searched...

Re: chipping

I always store it in the case, and it hasn't been bumped , the edges still feel super sharp. It isn't the cutter that is getting chipped, it is the wood that is chipping
