Re: How to create this “teardrop” molding
Well, this turned out to be a most enjoyable learning experience. Thank you to TReischl for the primer on gadrooning, dealguy11 for the example and description of how such a carving can be created, and to SteveNelson46 for his second example and very clear/concise video explaining the nuts and bolts...

Re: How to create this “teardrop” molding
dealguy11,
Thank you for the model, exactly what I'm looking for. I can definitely make it work, and I know I shouldn't ask, but I'm desperate enough I will - can you save it as a V10.5 model? I'm acutely aware of "beggars can't be choosers" but your model solves my dilemma.
Thanks,
kaetamer

How to create this “teardrop” molding
Hi everyone, I’ve been tasked with reproducing this molding which is the edge of a circular table - apparently this piece broke off and consequently needs to be reproduced - I’ve looked everywhere for a 3d model I can manipulate to size - anyone know what it’s called to narrow my search or have a 3d...

Re: Laser Etching on a 3D surface
May I ask for a clarification? Adrian’s option of using “Project onto 3d Model” seems to utilize a 2d object (line with X,Y values) onto a 3d model, whereas martindg’s approach sounds like he is utilizing a 3d object (line with X,Y,Z values) and a modified pp (a ‘normal’ laser pp which incorporates ...

Re: Source for paint mask
Might someone post a tutorial on its use? Prepping wood for adequate adhesion, bits to use (or avoid), type of paint/colorant to use (or avoid), etc.
Thanks for your help.

Re: 3D Cutting and Laser Enhancement
Very interesting effect - though are you sure your laser has a 6" focal length? Clearly *some* height variance doesn't matter - the pieces demonstrate that. Are you saying you could achieve the same crisp line with 2-3" (or more) of height variance?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Laser, Aspire, Mach 3 and a diy CNC
I configured the M10/11 commands as per JTech and I can manually toggle the laser on/off with "Spindle CW F5" command under Spindle Speed in Mach3.

Have a look here https://jtechphotonics.com/?p=3851
and here

for connection and control options. The M10/M11 feature is very useful.
Good luck.

Re: Tapered ball mill
martin54 - I did, in fact, find a setting error which significantly increased cutting times w/the TBN. Once corrected, cutting times are comparable to SBN. ger21 - I was aware of possibly omitting the roughing pass but some of my carvings are quite deep - not sure I'd want to push the bit to nearly ...
