Re: ShopSabre 4896 - Persisting 'Z" Axis Accuracy Issue

We tightened up the nut enough to perform some tests. Even when the nut isn't moving and with a brand new tool measure pad installed, the bits are still up to .010" off from each other. I'm beyond frustrated and I have no idea how to proceed. I need an accurate machine here and we thought that's wha...

Re: ShopSabre 4896 - Persisting 'Z" Axis Accuracy Issue

Leo,

You're right. We should have done some more research beforehand. We are slightly out of our 1 year warranty window. But, it has taken us months to discover what the actual problem is. It was a user on this forum that turned me onto the actual issue, not their techs.

Re: ShopSabre 4896 - Persisting 'Z" Axis Accuracy Issue

Check that the ball nut on the z axis is not turning in the holder. If the newer one is the same as mine it is threaded into the aluminum plate. Mine became loose and would turn sometimes. It was very hard to get at and the grease zero woul not allow it to tighten up so I had to lock tight it and n...

Re: ShopSabre 4896 - Persisting 'Z" Axis Accuracy Issue

That's what I've wanted to do for a while now. They're about 11 hrs away from our shop here. It just seemed like something that would be very expensive. I'll have to ask about it though. Thank you. From what you have said this fault has been with the machine from the very start which means that it ...

Re: ShopSabre 4896 - Persisting 'Z" Axis Accuracy Issue

Sounds frustrating, for sure. Does Shopsabre have a service man that could check out your machine on your site ? That is clearly the most direct way to get it sorted out. That's what I've wanted to do for a while now. They're about 11 hrs away from our shop here. It just seemed like something that ...

ShopSabre 4896 - Persisting 'Z" Axis Accuracy Issue

Hello VF, I've been dealing with an inconsistent 'Z' axis ever since we purchased the ShopSabre 4896. I've been on the phone with ShopSabre many different times and no one can seem to figure out what our issue is. I'm running a 10 tool changer. The problem is that the tool lengths aren't consistent ...

Re: Two-Sided Machining?: Alignment Issue

Dale, Thank you for your advice. That's what I thought the problem was as well. But, I've checked multiple times and I'm certain they're both centered. It's been a problem with all of my products. Since I've beaten that horse to death, I'll give it a try setting the X0Y0 in the center and see if tha...

Re: Two-Sided Machining?: Alignment Issue

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll try setting the X0Y0 on center in a few days when I'm at the CNC again. It sounds like this will really help my problem. I'm just learning everything about CNC online. So, this forum is very helpful to me. It may sound dumb but this problem with the alignment has m...

Re: Two-Sided Machining?: Alignment Issue

Knowlzy0791, the bamboo plywood comes in 4x8' sheet. I cut the blanks and then drill the holes on the CNC. Then, mount it on the threaded rods.

Would the blank need to be perfectly sized if I'm setting the X0Y0 in the center? Wouldn't it just be excess material?

Thanks again!

Re: Two-Sided Machining?: Alignment Issue

Thank you for your replies. My setup is a little different than most I have seen. I'm making small cases out of bamboo plywood. The sides will be aligned only if your X0, Y0, is centered between the alignment holes. FixitMike, thank you for the tip! I'm used to setting the X0Y0 on the lower left cor...

Two-Sided Machining?: Alignment Issue

Hello everyone, Question for anyone who has experience with two-sided machining: I'm cutting parts that have pockets on one side and engravings on the other. I have bolts in my CNC table that I use to secure my wood. The wood has pre-drilled holes. So, the wood piece sets down over the bolts and is ...

Warping Problem After Machining [Bamboo Plywood]

Hello everyone, I apologize if this isn't the correct part of the forum for this post, but I'm desperate. I'm manufacturing products out of bamboo plywood (http://www.calibamboo.com/bambooplywood.html) My products are basically flat boards with an assortment of pockets cut out of them. After the boa...

Re: Precision Depth Drilling - Need Some Advice, Please!

Yes, that is what I meant. Perhaps not as attractive as the metal magnet. Is it essential that the magnet surface be flush with the 'boo to hold properly? I know squat about production, but what about holes/slots that get to table T-slots, or sinking some hanger bolts onto the waste board and using...

Re: My first acrylic sign

A fellow Lions fan!!!! It's been a pleasing year so far.

Quick Question:

Are you using some type of LED kit for the lighting? Or, are you custom wiring it all?

Thank you!

Re: Precision Depth Drilling - Need Some Advice, Please!

Paul, I'm not quite sure what you mean about the opaque epoxy. As in, epoxy that's also on top of the magnet? Our resurfacing bit just came in the week. I'll have to run that soon to see if there's any improvement. I might have to use more screws than what I currently have. My only worry is that whe...
